I've tried to figure this out myself but I just can't get my head around it, sorry. If someone could give me an idea I'd really appreciate it.

If I crossed a pure Californian with a coloured or broken blue eyed French lop what could I expect to end up with?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Why would you want to ? And what are you looking to get mixing to different breeds together ? You would also have to let people know they are VC or VM if you rehomed any kits and your also trying to breed a ruby eye to a blue eye.

Well I really like French lops and I can't justify starting a whole new line of rabbits or my wife will go nuts! I can probably get away with one to start with but I would have to put it in the breeding schedule to justify it.

I don't sell rabbits so that isn't a problem. What is VC VM please?

If down the line I fluked a rabbit with all the markings of a Cali but with blue eyes it would be my perfect rabbit!

The VM and VC genes come into play when your trying to breed blue eyed white rabbits and ALL offspring needs to be labeled as such if they are sold to anyone else. Most of them are usually unshowable but 1 might slip by and it could really screw up someone else's breeding program if the aren't labeled correctly.
What is your breeding program is it just for meat ?
How many different lines or breeds do you have and what are you using them for ?
Ruby eye color is dominant over the recessive blue eye color

I'm only breeding for meat and just Cali's.

The thing is we used to have this fantastic Siamese cat. I'm not a cat person really but she was something else. We can't have cats here because we already have semi feral cats that keep the rodents down around our property and definitely not having a house cat in this heat. The closest I could get is blue eyed rabbit with Cali colour.

It's a silly thing but it would be nice to just have one rabbit that looked like her.

If your only using for meat i would get a Blue eyed white French lop and experiment you will get the VC or VM from first mating. I breed them back to the original BEW and save what you want from eye color or marking and continue

Thank you so much, that's exactly the sort of advice I was hoping for 👍

How about this one. He has bright blue eyes. He looks like a Siamese cat - not quite California but close. I wish someone would want him so I don't have to eat him LOL

EDIT: too bad you're halfway around the world from me. I just saw your post about wanting a 'Siamese' cabbit :)
