This morning I found flour beetles in the bottom of the feed bag. I'm fairly sure it's from me and not the store. I do keep my feed outside in an old chest freezer - actually it's a brand spanking new freezer that the motor/ refrigeration parts were damaged in shipping so it seals well. I cleaned it all out but would like to put some Diatomacious (sp) Earth in the bottom before putting more feed in. I just wasn't sure if it would be effective against something like a beetle with a hard shell :) any suggestions ?

DE works by scratching that hard shell (chitin) which causes the insects to dehydrate, so it will work on the beetles.

I mix 1 cup DE per 100lbs of feed. We use it in our personal food storage as well. It is perfectly safe when ingested.
