So, today I noticed some brown crusty-stuff on my 2week old kits. It came off pretty easy, but it didn't just fall off. All but one kit had barely any on their noses. One kit had a bit more. Is it just dirt? Their nest is on the ground, and they love burrowing (of course- they're rabbits!). I've never heard of any diseases where the rabbits have brown on their noses... None of my adult rabbits have anything on their noses. There's no other abnormal signs in any of my rabbits.

Thanks in advance!

I have seen something similar on my young kits before, even though they are cage raised. I always assumed they got a "milk mustache" and sawdust from the nest stuck to it. It has always just gone away on its own as they age, and never has it progressed to a snotty nose or anything like that.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you start hearing them sneeze a lot or see matting on their paws.

My very young kits often get little crusty rings around their nostrils. I assume their noses just run a little - I don't know why, but it never has indicated anything wrong. :)
