Would sallander be the correct term if it's tan based and not self??.
They get away with "sable chinchilla"

But maybe "martenized sallander" would be more appropriate sorta like calling self based harlies "torted harlequin"

It's all academic anyway as none of these colours will ever likely be showable - just lottsa fun

I really think we need a different name for at* chd* ee rabbits. Mine did not look like an aa sallander. If we differentiate "A" from "a" we should have a name for "at". Granted "at" has much the same impact on the body color as "a" and not the ticking of agouti. There are still differences. Such as white bellies and under tails. There also seems to be a darker tort like pattern across self sallanders while "at" rabbits are a bit creamier. The variation is so great though that overlaps can happen.

I always thought that tort and sallandar both refer to self aa

Hmmm. Blue or dilute chinchilla totter would work, but it sounds so silly.

Perhaps we could make up something new, for RT use?

Is chin always agouti?

Yeah, when it isn't, it's called something else.

A chinchilla is agouti and chinchilla

A frosty or ermine is agouti, chinchilla, and non extension..

A self chin is a self based rabbit with chinchilla genes. They just look like selfs usually.

A sallander is self, chinchilla, and non-extension

A silver martin is a breed that is otter and chinchilla in color.

From my view, we're missing a term for a rabbit that is otter (martin or tan: at), chinchilla, and non extension.

To get the proper chinchilla look it is always agouti because self and tan do not have the ticking in the coat. It is one color so self look pretty much black (or whatever the base color) and you usually can't tell the chin gene is there or they are solid body with the light belly and other otter type markings which we call marten.

This site uses "otter ermine" http://www.thenaturetrail.com/rabbit-ge ... pes-chart/

Okay, this conversation has reached the point at which my brain hurts. :p I just wanted to say that the bunny that Dood posted on page 1 is gorgeous. I want one.
