I happened across a beautiful blue eyed white Mini Lop buckling yesterday.
I know very little about bew. In order for any kits to be bew white from a breeding the doe used would have to at least be a vienna carrier, correct?

Is there any chance that my japanese harlequin Mini Lop doe that has some white on her foot (as do her harlequin kits) is a result of being a vienna carrier? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Yes, must be at least a VC to get some bew in a litter. Most likely, wishful thinking in them being at least carriers. White on japs is not that uncommon, least here, and none of them are VC's or VM's.

IF you decide to get, you would need to breed him to a good doe and then breed back for bews. BEWs are HARD show wise in any breed and they are hard to work with because a lot don't want to have that issue crop up and "ruin" their breedings because some one didn't keep pedigrees as should or warn that x was possible VC before purchase. This is a from show prospective though. I see a high number of people with BEW any thing breed for pets though....just depends on goals and what you plan on doing with those you cannot use yourself.

Thanks so much for your reply Rebel Rose. I appreciate it. It was very helpful.
I would not be looking to breed for show if I purchase him.
We have found that probably 75% + of the people that purchase from us are desiring a pet - even from our show lines.

If he is still available tonight I may get him. I was instantly smitten with him. :)

Well, I went to get a better look at him tonight and quickly decided he wasn't all I thought he was. :( I had just seen a side profile. The other side he had a patch of grey. I also wasn't as convinced he was a full mini lop.
Probably best as I really was not looking to add another buck to our rabbitry.
