Is there any particular colors that are more desirable in french angoras? Colors that sell the best or worst?

I have no experience with them...but out of curiosity I look at ads for them on craigslist when they pop up...at least around here it seems the ones that sell the fastest are the solid white ones. they also seem to cost more each then other colors. That is probably due to the fact that the fur being white is easier to dye so more desirable for use in crafts. ..hopefully you will get input from someone with more experience then me soon though :)

Locally whites have seemed to be the best sellers here and typically cost a slight premium

Really? I heard the REW don't sell as well.

Maybe it is a regional preference? Are there any breeders in your area that you could ask?

At the last show I attended, there was a young lady that raised Angoras. She had some beautiful items for sale using her undyed wool from rabbits of many different colors. She had a beautiful hat that I REALLY wanted to buy. She pointed to each stripe of the hat and named each rabbit that the fiber came from.

Personally, if I was working with fiber, I would want it to be as natural as possible and would not want to dye it, even with plant based dyes.

I agree with mama sheepdog. Totally regional. I live in Southern Colorado and I can't sell my REW Frenchies for anything, but a Chinchilla will have a home before it's weaned. (Nearly the same wool color produced, so I suppose that someone would choose the prettier rabbit over ones that are more dull). Also I hear the 'demon rabbit' thing a lot with the pink eyes. *Sigh*

Angora's are so rare here, any Angora goes flying off the shelf if you can get it marketed to a fiber home. I prefer not to dye it as well, I would like to have many different color of Angora as opposed to REW and dyeing, so go with what you like.

I do not own Angora rabbits, but I do knit and love the fiber (but thanks I'll let you all clean those cages!)... As a crafter I prefer either white or cream (fawn, red, etc.)... Greys are pretty as well :D
