I just put in slant boards and guttering to make Bunny Berry collection easier on my back. But I can now smell their urine. :x Where as before it just soaked in to the dirt and that was that. No smell. Pros and Cons. Decide what you and your family can live with and go from there. Don't be afraid to combo things up. Wire floor over kitty litter, or peat moss. Maybe cleaning daily will help. Or maybe your own rabbit cave (vs man cave). Yes a rabbit cave is very nice. I love mine.

ACV is suppose to be very good for rabbits. Plus I would use white vinegar to clean with. I use it for many household cleanings. Like when you've left your towels in the washer overnight, or found a wet one that's been sitting too long. Just add a cup of vinegar to a large load and poof no more funky smells.

Vinegar in the bunnys water? Is that...harmful...in any way?
doesn't trust Miss M

I'm not sure how much acv in the water is 'too much', but people generally recommend two capfuls of vinegar per gallon. I'm not sure what possible problems too much vinegar would cause. They like the taste and it helps their overall health.

Just to clarify it's the Apple Cider Vinegar (preferably with the mother) not the white kind.

Right, not sure if other vinegars might be harmful or not.

That's okay, the first time I read about putting vinegar in a rabbit's water to help with urine smell, I imagine the expression on my face was a very strange one! After all, how do you make something that smells bad smell less bad by adding something that smells... very strong and somewhat objectionable? And what rabbit in its right mind is going to drink water with vinegar in it?

But they do drink it. Now, I haven't really been able to test the supposed smell-lessening properties of it because of my particular setup. I was giving it for other reasons. :)

Yup, I thought it was strange the first time I read about it, but (lie any good nerdy chick) I researched it on the webs and, although many people say there is no benefit to it, so many DID say it was good, that I decided to try it and haven't looked back.

I'm pretty careful about the dose because I've never been able to find information about what 'too much' ACV might do to them. I keep a gallon of the water mixed up for them and always use it to fill the water containers.
