Satinsrule-
I have raised new zealands. I have satins and pals.
I have worked with many very well known judges to study for competition and have done very well. I know the terms the judges use and how to judge a rabbit. If u think im judging them lik a smaller breed your wrong. I dont just work with smaller rabbts. I have worked with bigger sized rabbits. This aint my first rodeo.
Your opinion is different then mine. OK.
Im sorry if you got offended by my saying just cause its a pal...As I Already explained.....i understand being passionate about a breed. Im about mine. And have worked hard to improve my breeds and the JWs grew because of that. The more a rabbit breed wins best in show or 4/6 class the more popular they become it seems so i know how important it is.

The following comment reveals more about how you judge rabbits than you may be willing to admit to yourself:

Im not saying hes MAJORLY hippy but from what i see he is. I mean it is a pal so its not that big of a deal

If you cannot read the Palomino breed standard and see how far that statement is out of whack, I really don't know what to you tell you.

This isn't about opinions. It's about someone who's telling us on the one hand that she's studying to be a registrar and one day intending to become a judge, then suddenly telling a successful breeder of a breed like Palominos which is faltering in numbers across the country that a serious type flaw is not that big of a deal. It is a VERY big deal, as type on a Palomino represents over half the points awarded on a breed standard (55 to be exact), and that is without regard to how many times you've "been to the rodeo", how many awards you've won, or how many 4-H seminars you've given presentations at.

I want to explain why I asked what I did, Jess.

I should preface I'm a completely ignorant rabbit idiot. I'm reading and lurking and trying to learn, including reading a lot of back pages here and lots of other forums.

Please take this with a grain of salt...and of course it's just my opinion and you are welcome to tell me it's wrong.

But (I'm assuming) you are young, and I think somewhere in your observation of a peer or mentor, or maybe it's been out-rightly implied to you, that to make your own knowledge known to others, it is shown best by tearing them down or pointing out a flaw. Anytime there's an opinion to be shared by you, it seems to be a negative one, and sometimes incorrect. It might not even be something you realize you are doing, but you're eager to show what you know. And sometimes that comes off as a bit not-so-nice.

It's awesome to show what you do know, and it's great to have an opinion or be outspoken. But there's a way to temper that.

Sorry if I'm out of line, I was just curious when I asked, because you always have a lot of input, but it doesn't always come across so well.

Ok i have explained how many times i did NOT mean it like that. I do not appreciate you attacking my personal opinion by taking what i answered to sommerluv. I never said anything about my experience intil sommerluv asked me that question. Im sorry my personal accomplishments and my experience has offended you so much! I just was answering the question.
You say this is without regard of my experience well this is also without regarding that im giving my opinion to the successful pal breeder..

Thank you for your opinion of me.

See you on the show table.

Thank you for being honest with me and telling me this. I do apprecate it.

I do not know if you and SatinsRule saw my first post on here past saying the one rabbit is hippy. BUT I ALSO SAID A GOOD AFTER THAT. I feel like you both totally threw my good comment out the window and bashed me for saying improvments. We both want the breed to improve so am i just supposed to keep what i think needs improved to myself? would that improve the breed?
I have been taught by judges while working with them that you say what needs to be improved on then always finish with something good(cause you dont kno if this rabbit could be some kids only rabbit). I do not baby a breed because their are not many or baby a rabbit cause it is someones only rabbit but i do believe i have always left a nice comment with saying what needed to be improved then the good comment. I mean everything i say about someones rabbit with my best intentions of improving the breeders herd.
I feel like some people( and im sure this will get taken wrong but Please dont take it wrong) are intimidated by my knowledge when its shared..like im a know it all. But thats not how i am. I feel and not everyone but i feel like there are a lot of new to rabbit people on here and need the information that i hold. I have always been very helpful and wanting to share my experience and knowledge with people that want it. If you met me in person you would proly understand me better.
If my experience and knowledge is not wanted here i guess i will just not be on the forum. But i believed everyone was welcome here before this.
I have been on other forums and never had this kind of problem as people were very wanting to know stuff from me and never were offended by me giving advice and sharing my knowledge.
Sorry everyone has taken offence to me sharing my knowledge instead of taking it and learning. I do not know it all. Im always learning and trying to learn. But if there is someone who asks for an opinion..im gonna give my opinion and share my knowledge to help someone out.

Funny. You pin someone down on what they flatly stated, and they repeatedly go back to reading their resume to you. Nice sideshow you're putting on there, but it only shows desparation.

And again, if you're going to put something out there for debate and discussion on a public forum, you should automatically expect it to be debated and scrutinized by others on the thread who know the difference and dare to disagree with you. That's what happened when you said what you did about a Pal being "Hippy" was "No big deal". It runs completely counter to their published standard, and you ignored 55% of said breed standard when you posted it. Regretfully, you put yourself out there when you did it and you simply weren't prepared for the responses you got. To make things worse, you chose to stand your ground rather than admitting you were wrong and moving on. Again, read and understand a breed's standard before you try portraying yourself as an expert on it.

Do yourself a favor. Take time to study their standard before you take the registrar test. Chances are good that it will be helpful to you not only in understanding what makes a good Palomino, but also in understanding how to properly judge them before God forbid you find yourself trying to place them in a class. That's coming from someone who, in his younger years, actually raised and showed the things.

Let's remember that things said in print do NOT come across the same as the spoken word. We are all here to help each other. If you feel the need to make a personal observation, please do it in a PM.

Alright, now everyone back to their corners....find the softest, nicest rabbit in your herd and treat yourself to some much needed "bunny therapy" :bunnyhop: :bunnyhop: :bunnyhop:

Wow, I am just in awe at this thread. Several opinions are given yet 2 of you don't like one of the opinions so you attack that person. I thought I was joining a friendly forum to discuss rabbits, at least that what it said in the introduction. I thought I saw a moderator listed somewhere?

Satinsrule, Do have a personal issue with Lil Fish? you stated, you pin someone down? You flat out attacked.

"Funny. You pin someone down on what they flatly stated, and they repeatedly go back to reading their resume to you. Nice sideshow you're putting on there, but it only shows desparation."

Sideshow? Desparation? Who are you to be so rude? You are way out of line to talk to anyone like that and I am sure you will come back with a rude comment to me. I came on this forum to learn about rabbits so I could help my kids not to see someone being attacked for an opinion.

Cattle Cait, you seem like you have been raising rabbits for awhile - you posted pics and got different responses, those responses were opinions, you state you are glad to get input from other breeders - on other forums and facebook, when you post a pic of a rabbit, you are going to get opinions. Posting them is like asking for opinion without it being said. You will get opinions you like and some you won't - just like at a show - some judges opinions you like some you don't. :) Everyone has an opinion, some care to share is all!

Willow,
I hate that you came into the middle of this, but keep in mind that everyone has a bad day, has a misunderstanding, gets their panties in a wad, etc. once in a while. This IS a friendly, helpful list and YES we do have moderators (very good ones BTW) but even they need a break once in a while. They cannot be on here 24/7. Please don't judge us by the contents of one thread. We are like family around here....sometimes we get on each others' nerves.

I feel the EXACT same way Willow does. Im sorry a new person on the forum feels this way also. Im not really new to the forum and i feel the same though.

I am also really starting to wonder if SatinsRule has a personal problem with me. Even though ive never met you or talked to you outside the forum. But if so please PM me so we can work it out.
You have been SO rude to me.
This is the last time I will respond to this thread because i will not feed to your almost to the point of bullying me because I have a different opinion then you or that you dont like.
I dont like to brag on myself but I am not going to let someone bring me down. I am a very rabbit knowledgeable young lady and have many people telling me I need to go just take my reg test and one person on a forum is gonna stop me? No.
You also will get no where by attacking me on a personal level.

Cait- I respect you as a breeder and your breed. As I also have pals. I never said you didnt have nice rabbits. Please take a look at what willow said to you. Its what I want to say but didnt know how to put it in words without you taking it wrong. You also contradicted yourself. you said you didnt ask for an opinion but you said right after that you apperciate everyones input.

I hope no one else gets attacked on this forum again and stops doing rabbits.

Willow please dont stop going on this forum or get discouraged because of one person. There are other people on the forum that are friendly.

Maggiej i think this thread needs to be locked.

I can appreciate something without asking for it. Just because I appreciated the opinions didn't mean I asked for them.

Okay, folk... everyone simmer down.

Willow, as a new member here at RabbitTalk, you cannot possibly understand the undercurrents in this forum. All forums have them... even friendly ones like this one. I'm appalled that you would be willing to jump into the fray under these circumstances.

That said, I expect this thread to return to its original purpose - a chance to see how Cait's Pal babies are shaping up.

I'm quite ill at present and have not been able to read each and every post as I would like to. I thought it safe enough to let the threads in Breed Discussions and Show Rabbits slide for a bit. Obviously I was wrong. I am not happy with the tone of the comments of some of the posters here. It is not in keeping with our usual good-natured exchange of views.

This stops now. I hope I don't have to lock this thread, but I will if necessary.

Are there any Pals in Ca., I wonder? Raising an endangered or Heritage breed brings a whole new appeal when it comes to choosing a breed!

Ooh! Ow! Is that my Rabbitosis flaring up again?

Maggie, I see exactly what is going on here. New or not. Cait so kindly messaged me to tell me about JW Queen and tried to get me to take here side. Does Cait do this to all new members? Fill them in on her issues with members? Sounds fishy to me.

As a new member to tell me your appalled that I would speak up because someone is getting bullied ? I have been on the end of bullying and I will speak up for anyone who is getting the end of it. Repramand the new person publicly, that is a way to keep new people and have your forum grow.
In the introduction and in your last post you said this is a friendly forum. Outright telling me your appalled - would embarass alot of new people but I guess you don't care about that or the bullying that is going on in this thread. This is really sad.
I am done and will stay on the other forum that I belong to that doesn't allow bullying. And will not reccommend this forum to anyone. JW Queen message me if you want to join the forum that I am on that has moderators.
