So Honey my Champagne D'Argent who had two babies, one of which died at birth had her second baby die today.

It was born on Wednesday the 13th, was well fed, fat, furred nicely and opened its eyes TODAY.

What could be the cause of death? I'm so confused, Honey is such a GREAT mother. This really has me worried.

I have no clue on what would have happened but I just wanted to say I am so sorry. (its always a bummer loosing baby bunnies :(

Oh Dayna I'm so sorry! :( [HUGS] When they are so tiny, its hard to say.
It was eating well and everything, maybe it had a congenital heart defect or something. Whatever it was it sounded very sudden. .

I hope the next litter does ok for you. Fingers crossed for healthy popples!

I would think there was a possibility she got to acting stupid and stepped on it. I have seen a young doe literally launch herself around the sides of her cage and didn't care where her feet went. With only 1 baby, it may also have gotten chilled, but I bet she forgot it was there and did some internal damage.

So sorry, Dayna.

Usually all goes well with baby bunnies, but any the things mentioned could be the reason you lost this one. We seldom find out why. You notice it more in a small litter too. :(

Hoping Honey's next litter does well for you!

Honey is an experienced doe, not young. And being in Hawaii I doubt it got chilled. It's pretty warm here.

I'm going to guess that there was something wrong with the kits. Since she only had two and one died at birth then the other at less than 2 weeks I think that something didn't go right with development or something.

She's due in three weeks so here's hoping for more than 2 and more than 1 live and living till they are weaned and beyond.
