One kit in a litter of 3 has twice now that I've noticed, had some very sticky, stringy white poo on him. Is this normal or is it something I should be concerned about?

I would be concerned about gastrointestinal issues... personally,I would not keep the kit.

It's not how mucoid enteritis starts out is it? He's only 3.5 weeks old so is still in with momma and siblings. I hope they're not in danger from being with him!

I don't think I could do that. He's still doing fine and I haven't seen any more poo like that. Two of my boys are pretty attached to him...

__________ Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:03 am __________

I don't think I could do that. Thanks for the thread. It doesn't quite match what I saw. It was talking about worms being small rice size things. What he had was a couple inches long. We haven't seen anything like that for a week now and he seems to be thriving...very odd.

I was thinking more along the lines of the abnormal (mucousy?) poo being the result of irritation to the bowels caused by worms or other intestinal parasites, not that it WAS the parasite. :)

I am glad to hear he is doing better and has had no more symptoms!

Ah, I see! That could be a possibility. It also happened right when they came out of the nest box so maybe it was from beginning to eat pellets? Thanks! :)

__________ Mon Jun 25, 2012 7:19 pm __________

Well, little Ace died this evening. I noticed that he just seemed to be getting thinner so I was pretty sure the end was coming for him. All day today he was sitting very still with his eyes half closed. I really think he was in pain so I'm glad he's out of his misery. The other 2 kits in the litter seem healthy and active! Here's hoping they stay strong!

Poor little guy! I'm sorry he didn't make it. I hope your other two will be okay!

Well, we're down to one...the heat got the beautiful blue otter buck. He was the nicest one of the whole litter! :(
