The gray one barely escaped death by Aunt Minnow. They're all separated. It stressed Minnow WAY more than it stressed Mrs Howell - she's gotten used to me fussing about over her babies, removing them from the nest, and generally poking around. Minnow...not so much.
I came out this morning to find Minnow nursing them...outside the nest.
3 were good little popples and crawled right back in. One went walkabout and got stuck in a corner, but went back in when I put him near the opening (after peeing all over me). The fifth found the ONE gap in the shelf and got himself caught between the wall and the colony base. It's just barely over a 1/2" opening. I don't know HOW he got in there, rolled at just the right angle I guess.
I have some nice scratches on from cutting the fence around the colony enclosure, and shoving my big Irishpaws into an itty bitty space. I don't know if he got hurt in the retrieval or not. When I picked him up, he was throwing his head way back. Poor guy.

__________ Sat Jun 29, 2013 1:08 pm __________

One of Minnow's babies is really runty. REALLY runty. While the others have stopped flippy-flopping and begun crawling, this one still twists and turns and throws its head around. It's also about half the size of the other kits. I first (noticed and) checked her nest on 6/17, and there were 5. So they should all be at least 12 days old. The rest are nice and big and opening their eyes.
No dwarf genes...any ideas? Just a super small kit?
