My friend's Holland Lop had a litter about 3 weeks ago. This was her first live litter and she must have panicked a bit, and chewed the ears off of 3 of them at delivery. They all seemed to be doing fine but then one of the ones with no ears had very swollen and inflamed looking genitals and was dead within a day or so. Then the same thing happened to one that still had ears. Right now there are three babies left...one is pretty swollen (no ears), one is slightly inflamed (also no ears), and the one with ears looks totally fine. Did infection spread somehow?

I doubt it has anything to do with their ears (or lack thereof).
Is there redness as well? They may have diarrhea or possibly the doe has not kept them clean enough.
I would suggest bathing their rumps with Betadine and then perhaps apply A&D Ointment or some other type of diaper rash ointment.

Or triple antibiotic ointment like Neosporin.

Yes, this is momma's first live litter so you're probably right. Yes, there is lots of redness. My friend has been rinsing their bums under warm water and that seems to be helping. I'll tell her about using the ointments. Thank you!
