I have 4 litters on the way and I sure hope it warms up.. Right now it is minus 25 C...that is to cold for babies.. nest boxes goes in on Sunday... Fingers cross for everything goes ok and not to have them at night as my rabbits are outside. but very excited about it at the same time.. I have one doe that keeps having the haymustache .. but holding off on the box for her as she isn't due for another week.. I have three that are almost off of their feed and one is really big.

Good luck Marry Ann. It's been nasty down here too. -10 (-23C) when I went out to work on the fire in the shop stove a bit ago. I have one due today too but I really don't think she took.

I don't know how you in the north do it so well. It is 20 degrees here, and we are cold!!! I hope all goes well.

If not, you might want to get some cardboard cartons and cut panels for the sides and top of the cages. If there is the possibility of them getting wet you'll need to cover them with plastic too, of course.

The large cartons that potatoes and pumpkins come in are really sturdy- about 1/2" thick- so would provide lots of insulation.

thanks,, they don't get any wind or get wet.. they are well protected.. .. It is the temp that I worry about ... only when they have there babies before I can get to the nest to make sure there is fur on the bottom and on top ... so they will stay warm no matter how cold it is. or have enough babies in one box. A lot of times they have their babies during the night or we hours of the morning ..

UPDATE
three out of four is pulling fur.. getting close I have one due on Thursday and the rest on Friday.. the one that isn't pulling fur and if she isn't preg.. she is being culls as she has a mean streak in her... If she is preg , then I will let it go... Her first litter was a disaster .. so she is on pins and needles right now and don't look good for her. Ps.. she was mean before I bred her hoping maybe that is why... I am starting not to give much chances anymore to mean rabbits.

I had a FG that is that way. The only thing that saved her was she always had 10 - 13 each time. She'd growl and charge at me and I'd just growl back only louder.

GOOD LUCK the next few nights! Can you put heat lamps on the boxes?

a laugh at that.. growl back that is funny.... SHE IS now using her box as a litter box.. so she is going ,, I just have to make sure she isn't preg by next week.. She attacks everytime I put my hand in her cage.. Next thing she will bite and I will not let that happen. I had a biter not that long ago and this one is her sister .. so you see where I am going with this..

here it the first litter born this morning at 915..am......valentine babies
there is 9 babies... mom is a pure german and dad is a pure French.. going to be nice babies.. I really wanted this litter.. so excited.. I am waiting on another that I wanted really bad.. I am hoping tomorrow she delivers..

Had two more litters of 8 each through the night.. It wasn't cold and they were fine... so a total of 25 babies.. I am so happy.. Now I can barely wait until they start growing to see how they turn out..One of the mothers is in my avatar

looks like I am on the fourth doe.. she is nesting right now.. I didn't think she took.. She is the one that peed in her box and of course it is frozen .. so I have to change it and redo her box... She better not be mean after she has those babies or at least come down some when they are 2 weeks old or else.....I don't think she will be a good mom as her first litter was on the wire and didn't even try to make a nest.. :evil: this time she is digging.. but not expecting much from this one. .. My numbers are sure are climbing ...
