Well, her hormones seemed to have calmed down, she's rational now, no longer attacking inanimate objects.

Today was a surprise though. I've had the nestbox inside since we're dealing with temps in the negative teens AGAIN.

Just been taking them to her for the daylight hours.

My husband was out before me to feed and water his precious hens. He told me the doe (Inanna) was furious that I hadn't gotten her kits out yet.
Charging back and forth in her hutch.

Fast forward an hour and a half, I'm climbing the hill with a basket of kits in one hand and a tote of food and water in another

Thinking "Wow, there are a lot of rabbit tracks in the snow today"

Right about that moment, Inanna dashed out from under one of the unused hutches and slammed into my legs! (left a good bruise there too)

Then stood there looking at me
"Where are my kits, you slow and stupid human???"

She followed me into the greenhouse that my husband had left unlocked(without further harassment thankfully) and back to her hutch, that she must have slammed her weight against to get open.

At which point I put the kits inside and she came up to me and calmly allowed me to pick her up and place her in the hutch.

So...now I'm starting to think I kinda like this little firecracker.

Cute :) Sometimes the seemingly most cantankerous critters turn out to be the ones with the most personality and smarts.

That is a VERY PRETTY doe you have there!

Thanks :)
Yeah, she's pretty, but she took a good sized chunk out of my palm two weeks ago.

It's still not fully healed.

I respect critters like her, but I don't KEEP them. I need naturally chill animals here.
Everyone has to get along in a pretty laid-back sort of way. Makes life a lot less stressful for me.
I will take a chance and keep a pair of her babies though.

I think she likes you too, lol.
 :rotfl:

Mostly, when I have had aggression problems, it's with rabbits that think they can boss me around.

Some younger rabbits will give me an experimental nip to see if they can get away with it, and after I let them know that won't be tolerate that sort of behavior they stop.
This doe only ever gave one warning lunge, so I thought maybe she was moody from wanting bred.
Instead, she went total psycho killer on me after kindling.
Now she's settled down...I guess.

Wow, that's quite an experience! That is one absolutely gorgeous rabbit! What color is that? I can see already that I am going to be seriously limited in my color varieties with my broken NZ's lol.

She is a tort, genetically, a black self rabbit with two copies of non-extension

aa B_C_D_ ee

You could get them if your red buck carries self, and one of your black does also carries non-extension.

Yay! I am really loving these tort colors! Our black does do carry a recessive non-extension gene (Sire is a broken red), so the only question is if our red buck carries the recessive self gene. It is possible, since his Sire (same as our girls) and Dam both carry a recessive self gene, which I know only because the breeder sent me a picture of him with his NZW sister! If he doesn't have it, then we won't get any solids OR any torts, which would be a bummer!

Anyway, sorry to "rabbit-trail" off topic - and I will say again that your doe is a beauty, even if her temperament is not! :D
