We have a deck of the back of the house that is around 10'x30'. It's about 8-10' in the air. I'm curious if others have build a setup on their deck. I'm trying to get ideas.

On or hung under the deck? I've seen lots of people hang them under, not so much on the deck.

I would hang them under, and use some wood lattice, and/or plastic to provide a windbreak.

Around here many people keep their rabbits UNDER their deck (provided, of course, there's room). Most of the HOA's won't allow out-buildings and it's a way to provide the rabbits some protection - keeps them out of the weather and out of sight.

I have had them under the deck and it was great until it rained and I wish the ceiling had been a bit higher. Even though I'm short, there were times I came out from the under side and pinched nerves in my back. Downside, you need to find out where the water flows and if water will come in from the top. Cleaning isn't easy if it's on the shorter side, but I was able to keep 30 rabbits down there.

It works if you are working on a budget and they stay hidden. I did have to put roofing over the top of the cages to keep them from getting wet. It was very stressful when we had our first big downpour and the tarp I laid down on top of the deck still couldn't keep the water out.

__________ Sat Oct 26, 2013 10:25 am __________

Pine shavings are your friend under the deck and keeps the humidity down and keeps it feeling fresh
