It's a beautiful kit  I just love that harli color.
You know, it seems like there are a lot of people who would like to own harliquins with good meat producing traits.

I do not know how these will turn out yet, they are dutch/flemish giant and I am raising for meat. My buck is black and one of the kits is black hoping it is female but will keep it if a male and use as Jimmys replacement. My goal is to get fryer rabbits the size of cottontail rabbits 3 1/2 pound at 10 to 12 weeks at a dress out of about two pounds. I will be the only one here eating rabbit so I do not need them any larger or in large quantities. Anna had six, one didn't make it. Litters as small as 4 or no more than six will suit me just fine. I know this is not most peoples goals in meat rabbits but they are mine, that is why I chose a dutch cross hoping for small in size and in litter number. Still building my ideal rabbit about six pounds fully grown black in color that gives 3 1/2 pounders at 10 to 12 weeks. Will continue to use Anna until she produces two black doe kits that will replace her. I am strictly inbreeding because I like what I see in the Buck and Doe. Loins feel good rear legs feel good. Front legs should be a good substitute for hot wings. Will know more by the end of the year. After I raise two black doe kits I will then use one of them to raise a new black buck "Jimmys replacement" I am thinking Jimmy is not dominate for black Anna had only one black out of six. So if Anna pass a gene for black and so did Jimmy then this black kit may be dominate for black, can't hurt to hope.

I am waiting until these are four to five weeks old before I re-breed Anna.

What a cute little kit! It looks nice and healthy, so Anna must be doing a good job. :)

So... why do you want all black rabbits? Are you hoping to use some of the pelts, or do you just like the color?

The last litter I got from my chocolate Dutch doe was 11, so don't count on small litters. Her litter before that one was 7. All survived.

We processed kits at 12 weeks and had more than enough meat from a single kit for my hubby and I to enjoy a nice dinner.
