So sorry. When a doe uses the nestbox to keep the babies warm, why are so many lost anyway? Very sad; so much work and anticipation/future hoped-for happiness, drain on the doe's body, drain on the owner's emotions....

What? Why? Terrible. I hope at least one, if not both, of the remaining kits can pull through.
Rabbits are fairly delicate, especially kits since they cannot regulate their own body temp at birth since they have no fur. Actually, pregnancy and kindling aren't really that much of a drain. NURSING is the real drain... but yes, we certainly do get our heartstrings pulled when they don't make it.

I bet she does better the second time around.... :grouphug:

I'm sorry Marinea, that's such a bummer :(. Fingers and toes crossed that the others do well for you!

Thanks for all the well wishes, but I am sad to report that the other two, despite my efforts, didn't make it either.

I know that it's part of breeding, but it's tough. Going to try again soon, hoping for a better result.

Thanks y'all for the support.

I'm sorry, Marinea. :encourage:

It feels like a lost RT litter. :( You have been here for almost a year now, and we've gone through cage building to rabbit buying with you. I know that I am not the only one who was looking forward to this litter with you.

If you breed her back now, you will have a litter within a week of your twirly star. That would be a nice way to celebrate! :p

I have to tell you, MSD, that post made me cry. Thank you for the kind words.

I was going to wait a bit to rebreed her, but I think I will take your advice and do it now. Thanks again.
