I am going to be selling some here in the future....got a snake guy lined up and talking to a lady who feeds Whole Prey model RAW...What do you think is an appropriate price per lb for whole carcass, fur on, only intestines removed, frozen? whole carcass, skinned, only intestines removed, frozen?

I would be doing this if my does would get with the program! Ugh..rabbits.
I Feel your pain. I've yet to get a litter. But I did catch one buck falling off a doe today in one of the colony pens. I sure hope it takes and I get some litters pretty soon.

There are a few going to FC this week and I am going to be sending a bunch more real soon if I don't get popples.

OAF - can I be noisy and ask you how many rabbits you have and how much feed they go through. Or, can you tell me how fast 6 - 8lb rabbits, will go through, 50lbs of feed?

for those that breed for meat, I am trying to figure costs of feed, per pound of meat. How much do your breeders weigh on average and how much feed do they eat. A litter of 7 cali/nz cross, can go through a 50lb bag+, getting them to the 5 lb mark???

In Rabbit Production (Cheeke et al), the feed conversion was given as 4lbs of feed for 1lb of weight gain. So you'd be looking at 20lbs of feed per rabbit from birth to 5lbs as that includes the does feed until the litter is weaned. This is my go to book for meat production questions.

My first copy I found in my local feed store, the second a friend bought for me from Amazon. Buy it used cause the new price is unbelievable. :x

I'm still undecided...one thing is for sure, I'm not going to rush into anything! :)

Good plan!

If she is paying $7.50 a pound, why not offer her what ever you can raise easily at $6.00 a pound?

She saves a buck fifty and you make enough of a profit to scale up a few does at a time.
