I have a 4 week old bunny that has developed a head tilt. I noticed this kind of last week when her both of her ears didn't flop like her siblings. I thought to myself... I will be patient her ear will catch up and with her ear being like that I figured it was just my mind playing tricks on me because of the ears. But as I walked into the barn this morning her Momma got excited and jumped over her and leaving her on her back and she acted like a turtle who was upside down and couldn't right herself. I picked her up and she curved in my hand. Put her down and noticed a dramatic head tilt. I have done a lot of reading on wry neck and I am sooooo confused.

I am beginning to think I have the worst luck.
1st my main doe gets a hernia so no more high quality litters from her.
2nd my potential show quality kit get wry neck.
What's next? Cuz I know it comes in 3's :(

next, if you can-- address possible external causes of this head tilt-- get some oil into those ears to treat for mites--get some willow into her tummy to bring down inflammation that may be along the upper spinal column and base of the skull. You can also get your bum over to the farm supply store and get some injectable tetracycline and 1cc syringes. (unless you are lucky enough to have Baytril on hand...) AS much as possible, keep her in a sternum down position, and of course, well hydrated and lots of hay...

barbie brown has a protocol for treating wry neck that works. and many people use ivermectin to get rid of it. not all is lost :)

Thank you guys! Went to Murdoch's morning and took a list of what was mentioned and the lady was a rabbit raiser as well and was very helpful.

Well... 5wk old Bentley is getting better. Monday I started the treatment everyone suggested. It has only been 4 days but her head isn't as bad as it was on Monday when one eye was in the sky and the other was looking at the floor. It's almost normal. I know she still has a long way to go but it's always a plus when she doesn't do circles, or fall on her back can't get up.

Thank you all for your help. It's is working!

She is ADORABLE!!!! I really hope this works for you, and that she can lead a happy healthy life. A friend of mine has a weanling with wry neck, and it is the saddest thing to see. I believe hers is getting better as well. Best of luck to you.
