I just tattooed one of my more interesting litters today & I have a mystery.
The Sire is Visionary
He is a broken fawn
I believe his genotype is
Aa Bb C_ dd ee Enen
The dam is Safari. She is a Black/Orange Harlequin
I believe her genotype is
Aa Bb C_ Dd eje enen
But because there are surprise Ermines in the litter, I know at least one of the parents must carry chd.
Both of them have an ancestor [different] about 6 generations back who did carry chd.
I was expecting tris in this litter & NOT A SINGLE ONE
So here are the 9 kits:
7VS0 RED, assumed genotype: A_ __ C_ Dd ee enen
7VS1 ERMINE, assumed genotype: A_ b_ chd_ Dd ee enen
7VS2 ERMINE, assumed genotype: A_ b_ chd_ Dd ee enen
7VS3 CHOCOLATE TORTOISE SHELL, assumed genotype: aa bb C_ D d ee enen
7VS4 BLACK TORTOISE SHELL, assumed genotype: aa B_ C_ Dd ee enen
7VS5 BLACK TORTOISE SHELL, assumed genotype: aa B_ C_ Dd ee enen
7VS6 ERMINE, assumed genotype: A_ b_ chd_ Dd ee enen
7VS8 BROKEN BLACK TORTOISE SHELL, assumed genotype: aa B_ C_ Dd ee Enen
I am not 100% certain this one is tortoise shell, since it’s broken, it is not as easy to tell.
Perhaps it is actually broken black sallander. It is certainly possible, since there are both ermines and torts.
7VS10 THIS ONE IS MY MYSTERY GIRL. I think she is chocolate ermine.
But since I have never seen one before, maybe I am mistaken.
Could she actually be broken? Fawn perhaps?
But she is so light that she doesn’t look like my usual broken fawns, which is why I am guessing chocolate ermine.
