29 day old pregnant doe stopped eating. Help!

Please help my tort mini rex is on her 29 th day of pregnancy and her 31st is on Thursday. She made a nest this morning but still has not pulled the fur for it yet. I assume that she will do that closer to kindling. I gave her some fresh hay,water, and pellets today and she has not been eating. All I have seen her do is take a few sips of water every now and then and then just lay back down. Should i be concerned?!

I haven't breed my buns yet , so I'm no expert, but try tempting her with a treat. I have breed dogs though and know when dogs get close to delivering they sometimes stop eating. :?

Does sometimes go off their feed before they kindle. She might be in early stages of labor so long as she's drinking water, I think she'll be ok

:welcome: :yeahthat: try some of her favorite greens. Parsley is good because it helps bring in the milk.. don't worry..she may be in labor so just keep her comfortable.

Mine regularly stop eating when they are about to have kits. I've had them go add long as 3 days without eating to much. Third day we had happy healthy kits and mom. Good luck with the kits

I get alarmed is my does stop eating any time other than the last few days, but on day 29,it's probably just because she's close to kindling. You can offer a little old fashioned oatmeal. Some of my does will still eat that when they don't feel like pellets or hay.

It's hard to know but when she does there will probably be a big mound of fur with wriggling kits.

Watch for her to start pulling fur and you'll know the time is VERY near. Leave her alone and check her every hour or so in case she happens to have them on the wire. If that happens just scoop them up and put them in the nest. Once she has them she'll probably eat like a horse, mine do.

Any other time, stopping eating would be an emergency. The last couple days before kindling, though, it's pretty common. You do still want to try to tempt her to eat at least a little. You might try some regular old-fashioned oat meal (not quick oats), and you can even coat it lightly with blackstrap molasses. Also, the fresh parsley, as others said.

Today is day 30... she could have them any time now. :clover:

You can also give her a Tums or two for the calcium (fruity ones seem to go over well, and mint can dry up a doe's milk -- I don't know if mint-flavored Tums can, but...). It's not actually required unless she were to go into distress while kindling, but some give it to help prevent problems, too. You can even give oyster shell calcium for chickens. I think MamaSheepdog does this.

Our doe Alna who lost her first litter last month is now on day 30 and she didn't eat her fodder this morning. We give raspberry canes to does (rabbit and goat) in late pregnancy and she is still eating that and some hay. It was such a relief once we figured out that not eating in these cases doesn't mean "emergency!" but that kits will be here soon. And our does have made up for the lost time by having big appetites once they've kindled.
This time around Alna has figured out what the nest box is for and has made a tunnel in the hay instead of taking it all out and eating it like last time. No fur pulled yet but hopes are high for kits by sometime tomorrow.
