More money in fishing worms or vermicompost?

So I would like to turn the rabbit manure I have into an additional stream of income. I could sell the manure outright, I could use the manure in a compost system and sell the worm castings, or I can sell the worms for fishing. My initial thought was to sell both. But the more research I do I...

    Two Strikes, You're Out?

I ha a doe a few years ago eat the ears off or "trim" all of her kits ears. It was her first litter. All litters after that all grew up with ears with no similar problems. It was weird though to see an 8 week old rabbit with no ears at all! -Dave

Disappointed in myself, need some encouragement/insight!

My first rabbit I id not hit it hard enough, my wife could hear the rabbit from the house, not a good start for me so I have been there. Like others have aid, a learning experience. Also, I always hose down the rabbit before I skin them. That keeps any loose fur from clinging to the meat. -Dave

    RAW

IS the $2.00-$3.00/lb goal live weight or dressed out weight for dogs? I have someone that wants the rabbit killed but totally intact at around 1-2 lbs live weight. I was thinking $3.25/lb. Is that reasonable? My thinking is since they are so young there is less of a profit margin. Thanks,

    How many ounces for NZW's

I think that that is a good suggestion Mama to feel them each day and then go from there. Like anything else there is no "cookie cutter" recipe for this. Thanks again!

    How many ounces for NZW's

I don't think that the buck needs more than the nursing does I was just wondering if 5 oz was enough for him and the pregnant does as the 5 oz tuna fish can is what I am feeding all of them. As mentioned they also get a shot glass full of rolled oats in the morning. I want to be sure the...

Doe running around the cage when with the buck.

This is all great to know. I will be a bit more patient in the future before physically putting her in a corner for breeding. I have always seen in the videos the doe sitting there and the buck mounting and that is that. This is great to know, I really appreciate the feedback.

Doe running around the cage when with the buck.

So should I just let the doe run around for 5-10 minutes before I hold her down? Thanks again,

Doe running around the cage when with the buck.

Good to know. She is about 6 1/2 months and a NZW. I have never checked her vulva to be honest before yesterday. Maybe it is just the time of year. After she started running around the buck just stood in the middle and let her run circles around him. I am glad to know so I can be aware in...

Doe running around the cage when with the buck.

I put a virgin doe in with a buck yesterday. The buck is pretty new to breeding, not his first time but still new. Her genitals were pink, not purplish. I checked before I put her in. I had to hold her and put her head towards a corner to calm her down. Finally he mounted and passed out two...

    First Butchering Experience

Wow, I did not realize that it took that long. Glad you guys told me! I guess from a lifetime of eating meat from the supermarket the thought of keeping food in the fridge for 3-4 days BEFORE freezing it never occurred to me. I appreciate it.

    First Butchering Experience

How long should we keep it in the fridge prior to freezing it?

    First Butchering Experience

I did not realize, although it makes sense, the necessity to get the meat past rigor. Is it just a matter of putting it in the freezer for a few days, or in ice water for a few hours? How soon after you butcher can you eat?

Appropriate size cage for breeding doe and buck.

I would imagine so, would the extra space for the rabbits be worth the effort to redesign it in your opinion? I have never made rabbit cages but am pretty good with my hands so I cannot imagine it bwould be that hard to do.

Appropriate size cage for breeding doe and buck.

I appreciate all of your advice, and I am learning quite a bit. I need your opinions on one more thing...I plan on purchasing a 20 foot long cage, 2 feet wide. It has 8 holes, each being 24 X 30. This guy has used them for New Zealands. I need to cut it in half to get it home because it is...
