Things I learned from building my first cage...

Instead of using the clips you could probably join everything with safety wire. Harbor Frieght sells a special pliers. You pull the knob on the end and the pliers spin -- thus twisting the wire. You use stainless wire (which they also sell)

    Buying commercial cages?

I checked and the price on a 12-hole maternity cage is upwards of $1,000.00 and they can't be shipped by UPS. If I decide to go with this type of design, looks like I'll have to build them.

    Buying commercial cages?

I figured it out. Those are Clerici cages. Rabbits Plus sells them. I may give them a call tomorrow. Curious as to what they cost.

    Buying commercial cages?

This is the style of cage that I like: http://vimeo.com/9836667 If you haven't seen it, its an interesting video. I don't care about the rack that holds the cages in the video. I'll build my own racks and hang the cages. What I like about these cages is how well they work when the Does are...

    Buying commercial cages?

I was reading in a book (storeys) that by the time you calculate in waste and cost of wire you may be able to buy manufactured cages for about the same investment. I can make all-wire cages. I do have a machine shop and a metal brake (for bending). But I have a lot of projects for this spring...

Post on homesteadingtoday.com for me please?

There are tests that can be applied during the registration. Did the mouse move? Was the keyboard used? How much time did it take to complete the registration? Did a hidden field in the registration form (which a human wouldn't see) contain data when it was submitted? Many things would...

Thanks for the great info! Glad to hear they can mostly coexist. They would be separated but in the same general area. Now I need to figure out where on my property I want to put them. :)

    Rabbit proximity to poultry?

Hi All, I'm going to start raising both chickens (for eggs) and Rabbits (for meat) this spring. I'm a total newbie but am reading a lot to learn as much as I can. If I were to build a chicken coop and have chickens on one side and rabbits on the other...would one get sick from the other? I...

    Planning shelter and housing

Thanks. Lots of good ideas! I have a portable canvas garage. It collapsed from snow-load this past winter. I've had it for many years without issue but this was not a typical winter this year. I am going to need something for the rabbits that will stand up to the winters. Either a...

Post on homesteadingtoday.com for me please?

Hi All, I registered as MNBobcat on homesteadingtoday.com. I never received the activation email. I have since emailed the site administrator 4 times and have been completely ignored. I'd appreciate it if one of you could post a message on that forum asking the admin to activate my account...

Hi Everyone, What do you consider to be the best breed of rabbit for eating? Is your favorite based on how they taste or how fast they grow or a little of both?

    Planning shelter and housing

Hi Everyone, I just joined the forum. I guess that makes me the resident newbie! I've been reading a lot (few hundred posts) over the last few days. I also ordered "Storey's Guide to Raising Rabbits, 4th Edition" which won't arrive until Wednesday. I'm hoping you can help answer some...
