    Crazy doe = crazy kits?

I think part of the problem with this doe is that she doesn't see too well. I don't know if this is a side-effect of her pink eyes or what. When she sits still, her head constantly scans slightly, back and forth. Once she got used to her new surroundings, she's (mostly) calmed down, but there...

    Crazy doe = crazy kits?

Recently I picked up a bred himi Mini Rex doe. The breeder I got her from told me, "good luck with that doe... she's a witch". I kind of shrugged it off; I've had unfriendly rabbits before and have usually been able to tame them down fairly easily. But whoa, this doe is unlike any other I've...

    Show Acronyms?

BOS actually stands for Best Opposite Sex. BIS is Best In Show.

Is this big enough for a Californian?

I think it's a bit small, personally. For a larger breed like a Cal, I would try to go at least 30"x24". And for a doe and litter, I would probably go larger still, like 36"x24" minimum. 18" is pretty narrow, especially when you're factoring in a nest box and eventually a bunch of...

    Entry Forms

For each rabbit you want to enter, under NO TATTOO, write the tattoo number of the rabbit. Then, under BREED, write the breed (Mini Rex). Under VARIETY, write the rabbit's color (if it's a broken, just write "broken", no need to write "broken black" or whatever). Under SEX, write a "B" if it's a...

Calling all Rex breeders out there...

Just so you're aware and it doesn't come as a surprise, if your broken doe has no nose marking she will be DQ'd at the show. You should still get some commentary on her though, so if that's what you're looking for, you should still feel free to enter her.

    Bad sore hocks

I have an 18-month old Mini Rex doe who has developed really bad sore feet in the past few months. She had a litter in May, and her foot issues started around the time that they were weaned. She has a slatted plastic resting mat as well as a wooden resting board in her cage, but her feet have...

    What colour is Pie?

She's tan pattern for sure... my guess is a broken sable marten.

Himalayan kit colors crossing black and chocolate

Actually, if you breed a black himi which carries dilute to a blue, you'll statistically get 50% blues. Same with breeding a chocolate carrier to a chocolate: 50% chocolates.

    My New Mini Rex Bunnies

The brokens in Curly's litter look like a broken blue otter and a broken chocolate otter, rather than a broken black and a broken chocolate. You can tell that they're otters by the lighter coloring inside the ears.

2014 ARBA Nationals in Fort Worth

I'll be there with some Mini Rex juniors.

    UPDATE: Popples have arrived!! **PICS**

How do you know she's pregnant?
  13. Birds Buns N Bees

    Is she showable

She looks like she has a lot of protruding guard hairs over her hips and shoulders (you can especially see these in the first picture in your latest post), has long shoulders and is pinched in the hindquarters. However, I don't see any DQs in the photos (unless she's over the maximum weight...

I think this is the fluffiest bunny I have ever seen.

That's a pretty typical looking double-maned juvenile Lionhead. As they get older they usually lose some of the fluffy coat, leaving the mane and skirt (or whatever Lionhead people call the long fur on the flanks and sides). The "crud" around his nose is just the color of the fur.

    I brought home Chickies

Do you have to give piranhas live food or will they eat frozen/killed food? Just curious; I hadn't heard of feeding chicks to piranhas before! I would have figured piranhas would most likely eat "feeder" type fish.

    Genetics Question

The seal couldn't really have been a true seal. My guess is that he/she was a dark sable.

    Great time yesterday!

I went to a double show in Yankton, SD yesterday and had an awesome time! I took 3 rabbits: a sr. otter buck, a jr. otter buck, and a blue jr. doe. As the show was starting, I noticed Mike Avesing (one of the judges) looking around for a writer, so I volunteered. I ended up writing for him all...

    Today's interesting chinchilla events

Chinchillas are funny little critters. I had a pair of females for several years, until I finally couldn't stand finding chin poop in my bed, shoes, etc. anymore and rehomed them. But I did love watching their antics, especially the wall-surfing when they would come out of their cage for...

    Stress reliever?

Does anybody have any suggestions regarding stress relievers for rabbits? I attended a show this past weekend and one of my juniors got extremely stressed. I hate to see that happen, so I'm wondering if there are any supplements or anything that seems to work really well to help ease their...
