    Do does have "heat"?

I see... So, in other words, she ovulates when she is bred, not at regular intervals?

    Do does have "heat"?

THANK YOU! That is the most helpful post that I have read yet! I am a very visual person, so the pics showing the difference were a HUGE plus for me!

    Do does have "heat"?

This is probably a really stupid question that I SHOULD know the answer to, but don't. I see a lot of varying answers on when to rebreed the doe after birth, etc, and it seems that you can just put them with the buck whenever. Is this true? Or do does have a cycle that you have to go...

Using a Rabbit Wringer, Hopper Popper, etc

Has anyone ever had any luck finding a rabbit wringer used? I am looking into meat rabbits, and this is the way that I want to butcher, but they are so expensive! Trying to figure out exactly how much it would cost to get started. :)

    Looking into meat rabbits....

So, you use 30 x 36 until the kits are born and then move mom and kits to the grow out cages? Or do you just put the kits into the grow out cage when you wean them?

    Looking into meat rabbits....

Thank you! And how big should grow out cages be? I have read so much varying answers to this question... What is best for mama and kits?

    Looking into meat rabbits....

Thanks for all of you guy's help! Thought of another question: Without over-working the doe (but using her full ability at the same time), how many litters can she produce per year? (it is about a month for pregnancy, and how long until weaning?) Thanks! ETA: What is the *average* litter size...

    Looking into meat rabbits....

Thanks you two! This is such a learning process! Another question: Would I be able to put out enough babies to feed my family with 4 does and a buck? Or would I need more? My thought was that I could breed 2 at a time (on a rotation), so that if one rejects kits, I can foster them to the...

    Looking into meat rabbits....

I'm thinking that if I do this I will probably end up with the "normal" meat breeds (Californian or NZ)... Just because the other ones are so much more expensive around here. That is a good thought... On the cages. Maybe I will keep extras around, but i would like to keep the does in grow out...

Thanks guys! I think that I prooobably have enough evidence to prove that it is worth it! What do y'all think?

Thank you for the link! Perfect! I always thought that tanning was a long and hard process, but it is really only long. Not hard at all! Good thoughts, and it would pay for the feed bill too!

How do you "do up" the furs? There has to be a market for that stuff...

    Looking into meat rabbits....

OMW... Thank you soooo much! That was like THE most helpful post yet! Now, if my cost of grain is about the same (which I think that it is...) I don't have to measure how much bunny food is a pound! THANK YOU!!!
