Taste difference between cervical dislocation vs bleeding method, what is your opinion?

The thing we don't realize is that cervical dislocation is paralyzation not death. Your still doing the killing by bleeding out. Not that I mind that, it is fine, keeps the bunny from screaming. I also have neighbors that could be unhappy with me. I use a pump pellet gun (hand not rifle) It...

    Wry Neck

My experience with Wry neck was caused by a type of encephalitis which there are several types that mosquitoes can pass on. So my first reaction was no. But an injury, maybe, especially since you shay he is ok now. What I know about the disease is that it would kill the rabbit, there is a...

    Funny kits

I love the look on their face at that young age... bink (sorta) and then... WHAT just happened? Did I do that? How do I do it again.

Help young buck doesn't do his job

I will add that if he is young he may not be "ready" himself. Usually by 4 months but I have had one buck at that age that just wanted to hang out....2 weeks later he was more than ready

    Suspected Hepatic Coccidiosis

Also I believe you need to change the mix out each day. At least the meds I used did.

    Suspected Hepatic Coccidiosis

Each liter is 1000 ML divide by 4.5 you get 22.2 ml per liter. Look on a measuring cup, most of them have both liter and cups/quarts on it. Use a 5 ml syringe to measure out. Try a feed store to get the 5 ml syringe. Or order online.

    Spreadout the kits or no?

There are numerous recipes online for milk substitute. What I have been using is; canned goat milk (yep, it is out there, whoda thunk it?) Heavy whipping cream Honey and occasionally if I have it available Colostrum Supplement 1 tbl spoon heavy whipping cream to 1/3 cup goat milk a few dribbles...

    Spreadout the kits or no?

This suggestion depends on your time constraints so take it with a grain of salt. When in this situation I have bottle fed kits who look like they are not getting enough. The suggestion to shelve a litter and then rotate in/out the other litter to make sure each one gets momma milk once a day...

Coccidiosis, trying to help a friend

Many health issues I have dealt with create or add gut issues. Often antibiotics can cause it.... let me say fresh green grass is very very helpful in this case. Almost miraculous. Almost... do try it I've had (horrible, depressing events) with a viral enteritis that went across the US...

First time butchering yesterday. What to do with heads, ears, feet, tails, etc?

OKay... one of the most disgusting but laughably thing I have seen was a Schitz-zoo. (YEA, I know spelling wrong) with a head under his jaw and ears sticking up around his. He loved it! Betj

Buck Lop Eared had Stroke or Head Tilt

Oh bless you for all your efforts to see him through this. There are more than one things that can cause head tilt. E. Cuniculi is most common. You can find vitamin B-12 sub-lingual (under the tongue) in a lot of pharmacies. Since it is a liquid it is fairly easy to give to a bunny. Make...

Taste difference between cervical dislocation vs bleeding method, what is your opinion?

Interesting to read about. Certainly I do not experience "bloody meat" But here in the western US we have the "bunnies are cute, how can you eat them" problem

Meat rabbit housing and some other questions

Ditto with cedar shavings, especially respiratory issues. Although in the outdoor turn out cedar chips were not an issue. I believe this may have more to due to species of cedar than size. The shavings had a high scent, the chips no scent at all. (a surprise actually) Also ditto with pine...

Why is my daughter suddenly getting sprayed by our bucks

Unfortunately the boys will spin and blurt (spray) the person they like. It is a way to share their wonderful bucky goodness. (eww) That perfume thought is interesting. Not sure but rabbits have a great sense of smell. They might be trying to overcome it? I notice our younger boys tend to...

    Sneezing rabbits?

Also check deep inside their ears. I've seen infection way down inside the ear of a rabbit that caused sneezing. Although it did hold that ear cock low and occasionally shook its head. But something to think about

    Greetings from Xenia Ohio!

Welcome to you both, it is great thinking to lurk, learn and cherry pick ideas for your setup. I started with crossed breed meat rabbits and had some great ones. It can be fun to see what colors, and patterns will pop up in the nest box. Then I fell in total love with American Chinchillas...

How do two white rabbits make a black rabbit?

Below is a link to a you tube video about color genetics. It can help you learn how this came about. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhKouNuw6_k

How do two white rabbits make a black rabbit?

Blue comes from a dilute gene on a different site. Dilute of Black. So it is possible to get black if one parent doesn't have the dilute gene. There are "modifiers" that effect colors. Which is how we get so many different coat patterns and colors. I've been recently learning about this and...
