    Chickens and Ducks

Next Spring we are thinking about adding about 3-4 chickens and a duck or 2. So in true Cathy fashion I'm hitting the books and web.   Told my DH that I wanted to hit the library for some light reading.  I came out with the loan limit. :P   Only 7...

I started making them a few months back and selling them on craigsist. Getting $25 for the grow outs and $65 for the breeding cages. Have even sold some to chicken breeders as brood pens. Making more $$ in supplies then in rabbits at the moment.

    Anyone's litters picture thread!

It's been a long month but here's some of the little cuties: With the up and down weather she can't keep up. One minute 80*, pulls all the fur out, next 38*, piles the fur back in. :x    Quesadilla got started too young. I got some dates mixed up and it wasn't in till I...

    buck freaking out?

I would say he's wanting a lady friend. He might be able to smell the does. If one is close to breeding time that might be drive him.

    Where to get cages?

Try orscheln or tractor supply. Or KW Cages or Bass Equipment. I had to make mine. Couldn't find the size I wanted for a reasonable price. Best of luck

Anyone with experience caring for orphaned baby coon?

Puppy replacement formula is best. 2 scoops to an 8oz bottle. By scoop I mean the cap that covers the nipple on the bottle. You can pick one up at the dollar tree for a dollar. Depending on the size of the little guy a heating pad maybe needed. A small plastic dog taxi work great as a temp home...

    Commercial rabbits

Sorry. That is the weight of the litter as a whole.

    Commercial rabbits

For litter 1 and 2, are those litter weights as a whole or an average across the litter? I raise NZW/Cal Commercial stock. The weight difference between the two litters is quite large. Here are my weights across the 4 litters I have currently: Litter 1: 7wk old NZW/Cal/AmChin: average...

    1st ever Swap Meet

From what I witnessed over the weekend, NOTHING. Rusty stuff sold as antiques, over priced food. You know the norm. :x :P   I did see lots of animals for sell, normally never see them at a flea market. Gave my daughter a $20 and told her to grab me a coke and her something to eat...

    Switching type of hay?

I wouldn't see it causing any harm. I change mine sometimes. Bought some from UPCO for $5.25 a square bale. but when I ran low a friend gave me 2 bales of grass/alfalfa. The rabbits don't seem to like it as much as the UPCO stuff. But free can't be beat.

Where to buy these cage latches CHEAP... really CHEAP?

I would thing that you could find a roll of thick single wire at the hardware store. Then cut and bend to size and shape you need. Or like some have said, wire coat hangers are cheap even free.

    "Dead rabbit" picture thread

He had me completely fooled. After about an hour, I had to get up and check on him. He had the nerve to look indignant.

Apparently I'm a horrible person.. plus 1 question...

My family thinks I'm nuts too. Butcher a cow fine Butcher a pig fine Butcher a rabbit not ok? I show them my arm and the scratches and they shut up quick. I'm proud that I can put hormone and antibiotic free meat on my table. Anyways I butcher 3 at a time. Cleaned and skinned. Then...

    Talk to me about possums

What no cheese? :x How could you be so cruel. :P   I've fostered baby opossum in the past. Just loved them. But hey I'm a little insane. :P   Thank you for releasing it over killing it. Opossums here get well over 20Lb, that's an average. Raccoons well over 50Lbs.

    Talk to me about possums

Relocate it at least 25 miles from your home. Conservation land is best. You can call the department of conservation and ask them. Putting it down is an easy fix, but they are good for the eco system. Plus I've never seen an opossum hunt, preferring small rodents (mice not rats), eggs, and...

    Rabbitry Names?

For me, I never want to forget where my rabbitry got it's start. We live right on the 102 river in Missouri, so "The 102 Rabbitry" was born.

    Bring 'Em In?

I would assume that the lows aren't as big of a deal as high temps. Because rabbits are usually built to withstand the lows. But if there was a wild swing and the temps were to drop below what there use to then you might have some issues. Or new mothers could have issues. For us here anything...
