    meat rabbit start up questions

How did the cotton tail get in there? I had thought about the Flemish Giant in the beginning but the cage space was an issue for me. I only have a 6'Tx8'Wx19'L lean-to, to fit cages in so space was a huge factor when deciding on the breed I got. In the rabbit world bigger isn't necessarily...

Dozens of books and not 1 mentioned the steady decline of mental stability. :? You would think that would have been in at least one of them. :P

    meat rabbit start up questions

What type of rabbits are you getting. I have NZWs and their breeding cages are quite large. 2'x2'x4' and for the bucks 2'x2'x3'. Also, have read that rabbits can breed through the wire. I placed a piece of thick vinyl between the does cages because Mama likes to bite through her cage at the...

    Normal behavior or shy buck?

The doe mounting the buck is a show of dominance and will destroy a bucks confidence. Which will make him shy around does. Seeing as he's had his backside handed to him once already. I took a chomp to the hand saving my buck. You have to watch them and stop dominate behavior at once. When I...

First litter - what am I expecting?

I would put her on "doe watch" That's what Izzy and I call it at least. With our luck, :x , we check on the does every couple of hours till she kindles. We normally start on day 30. Day and night. My DH thinks we're crazy but I hate loosing kits. Best of luck.

    Camera help

I have a fujifilm xp. I love it but hubby isn't a fan. It is easy to use, takes good photos, is water proof, and shock proof. I have used it while at the lake and the pool. While mudding and riding. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=fujifilm+xp+ Here are a few pictures: Water was a...

    Anyone's litters picture thread!

I try to get 3 fall overs. The few times that I only had 1 fall over, never resulted in litters. This time around I only got 2 on Tartar, so I'll see if that was enough. Best of luck.

    This doesn't math

I think so. Before the attack there were 6 kits. After, there were 3 shredded to pieces and 1 mia and 2 hiding in the back corner of the nest. I am assuming this was the missing kit. But how? How would it get back in the nest? When? Izzy and I have been in that nest several times a...

First litter - what am I expecting?

Mine didn't decrease food intact. In fact I'm pretty sure 1 doe was so caught up in eating she gave birth right beside the feeder. Had 1 first timer clean everything out of the box and lay down a tiny patch of fur in the box, her second litter perfect nest. Another first timer perfect...

    This doesn't math

There was no where for the kit to hid. The cages are very spacious. Each cage has only a large stick, a plastic bottle, and the nest box. Very rarely is hay loose in the cage and if there is any it is cleaned up at once. They tend to urinate, and defecate on it and then make a mess. Plus after...

First litter - what am I expecting?

Shenanigans If you think it can't happen then it will. If you prepare for the worst nothing will happen. But could. Just shenanigans. Or at least that has been my experience over the past few months. Out of 5 litters none have gone as planed. Shenanigans. :x :P

    Anyone's litters picture thread!

From my December litters, my 5 survivors. Mama's litter 1 month old: Rosa's litter 18days old: As long as the sex change fairy doesn't hit, we will be keeping Lavender. Have no idea what color she'll be when full grown. Could stay black.

    This doesn't math

They would have been a least a week apart. It was not a new born it looked to be almost a week old. And the two other kits, the alive ones, are 18 days old. And no there was no signs of decay. It hadn't even gone into rigor. :? Why does weird stuff always happen around me...

    This doesn't math

Nope. 1. The only other kits are 5 or 6 weeks old. Plus there is at least a 6 foot gap between the two nest. 2. No one goes into the rabbitry without me. And it has only been me and hubby all day. I know this is going to sound crazy. But I think the mice are sending me a message. :x :lol...

Ok went out to the rabbitry to do evening checks and feeding. At first glace everything is normal. Feed everyone, Watered everyone. Checked and took pics of the little ones. Reached in to Rosa's nest to pull the black kit. And I touch something very cold, furry but cold. :?: It was a week...
