Does wouldn't lift - seeking advice on next steps

do you table breed? Put her in the bucks cage? Rabbit run? Often times it's what the buck wants and he will be persistent enough to actually make it happen.

Should I intervene for this kit?

chances are he was a fader, it wasn't you're fault and you did all you could

Should I intervene for this kit?

You can also just hold the doe above him and let him nurse for 10 or so minutes

    Help me!

what color are the parents and what do they carry?

    Housing females/male close

Ya this is a pretty big issue newbies don't know, I had 3 litters through the wire till I realized what was happening

How much shelter do bucks need?

Rabbits can normally survive cold just fine, they have an issue with heat and wind. Make sure they have a wind resistant place to go or just put up 2 walls/tarps around them. Also (of course) rain. As long as they can stay dry and out of wind, they should be fine. If you are worried about the...

A Chestnut from 2 solid parents?

I believe you are correct..... Agouti dominates Tan Pattern and Self (A), Tan Pattern dominates Self (at), and self is fully recessive (aa)

    Housing females/male close

as long as they aren't next to eachother or have wire between them, it should be fine. I have stackers with bucks below and around with metal dividers and there is no issue

How often do you feed and water your rabbits?

I got a scoop that is just enough for the rabbits to clean up in a day and they get fed in the morning, bottles filled when needed, and grass hay in the evening

Where did this infant rabbit come from?

granted it could also be a runt but for me the dead giveaway is in the triangular ears so if the kit displays that it's probably a peanut
  11. golden rabbitry

Where did this infant rabbit come from?

yes, they have the double dwarf gene (can't happen if the parents aren't dwarfed) and they can't survive. It's inferior and will most likely pass in the first few days but they can live up to 3-4 weeks, most breeders cull them at birth

    Kit News!

    they are very cute!

Where did this infant rabbit come from?

Ididn't read through all the replies so sorry if this is redundant but that's a peanut. Huge forehead, small pointed ears that are set back, bulging eyes. And if it ain't a peanut, it's just super small and possibly a fader

Where did this infant rabbit come from?

I'd just place it back in. Depending apon the breed, it could just be a runt or peanut, thus looking younger. It really depends on how much older the first litter is considering that the babies are hairless the first 3 or so days since it takes time to actually see it. Keep us updated!:)

    Kit bragging pics

YALL FINALLY AFTER 4 MONTHS! and blues! Against all odds (the doe got a hernia on day 21), she kindled 3 healthy little babies and confirmed my buck dilute! I'm so happy that finally something went well! Praise God!

    Best way to improve?

Thank you so much! Ironically all my herd bucks are bombs! They are perfect (except one with has a slightly long ear but that's minor) I do line breed and I will defiantly cull "parts" rabbits since I didn't even realize I was doing that! How long did it take to establish your herd and start...

    Is my rabbit pregant?

    any luck with this?
  18. golden rabbitry

    Best way to improve?

I'd like to preface this by saying I breed towards the SOP of the ARBA in holland lops and I'm a perfectionist to a flaw. I've never out a rabbit on the table, I always feel they aren't good enough and I've been working on my herd for two years, breeding for five. I sell anything I don't think...

    Pregnant rabbit?

as said above, nesting at days 27+ is normal and anything earlier can be a sign of a false pregnancy (unless your doe is consistent) First time moms tend to be a bit mixed up so watch her and give her what she needs and don't worry too much

    Is my rabbit pregant?

if you can, pick her up and place your hand on her abdomen right under her hind legs and feel with your fingers, since she is so far along, feel for any hard round masses and it shouldn't be too hard. Don't be scared to feel around and see if maybe you can feel a baby or two to see if she is...
