    Black color question

Yes have to see if he lightens up after molt, right now he is much darker than all the other blues we have had. If there was no other black to compare him to then I would have not noticed he is slightly duller in color...I'm actually thinking he is just not to standard coloring black. But he...

    Rabbit Bedding Suggestions

My boy inside is a Flemish and so uses a large cat litter box, but he also likes to move it around to where he wants it...I tried attaching it to side of his cage..he spent all night banging and pulling it until he broke it free...now that I allow him to move it to where he chooses he leaves it...

    Rabbit Bedding Suggestions

And, just an FYI, I find if I use litter over the puppy pads it holds the stink...try a little litter box if possible...this can be easily cleaned more often so no stinky saturated bedding.

    Rabbit Bedding Suggestions

I have one indoor bun that I use puppy pads under cage in a tray...this has worked out well at not only controlling odor but ease of cleaning as I can just roll up puppy pads and toss all out with very little effort getting most of everything out at once. I did buy some cheap vinyl sticky tile...

    Black color question

Ok so we got a new batch of babes, and as they have started getting furred out, I noticed one of the little black ones seems a little off. It's really only noticeable when they are side by side...this little guy just doesn't have that shiny black sheen like the other. They are Rex Rabbits which...

    Culling aggressive doe

Rabbits are territorial animals, especially does. This is why we always take girls to boys hutch or neutral ground when breeding. I would just continue working with her on getting to see you are positive experience on neutral ground. You could also spend time at her hutch just talking to her...

    Culling aggressive doe

I used my last doe who was almost 3 years for rabbit noodle soup...cooked her in crockpot with a little chicken bouillon just like homemade chicken noodle soup..I've also done like this with dumplings as well. Slow cooked or in a stew will be your best bet...and if after cooking if you find it...

Opal and Tort...I was so happy to see a little Castor in the nest box. This breeding was an experiment to see what she threw because I got a non extension color in her last litter and wanted to see what I got if she was bred to a buck carrying ee. I'm trying to narrow down her color genetics.

    Black eyed whites

Ah yes the chinchilla gene or other C locus genes can effect eye color too...I'm not familiar with all the different color names for different breeds as I breed Rex we can get some crazy variations too..we call these whites, frostiest, etc that have dark eyes Ermine

Rex Genes... what color could I get?

What color is her son? Opal breeding in general could give you many colors, depending on what she carries..if she also carries at you get otters..Opal is dilute and if he is also Opal it is possible to get lilac or blue otter, fawn, opal, lynx, REW, squirrel (blue chinchilla), lilac chinchilla...

Black NZ with mottled eyes question

This looks like sectoral heterochromia..it is a genetic mutation and rare...you have some cool unique bunnies! It does not mean they are not pure NZ...and eye color is affected by C locus genes so the chinchilla gene could definitely play a part in this coloring.

Hello and Welcome! I'm from SE Ohio and breed mini Rex and meat mutts. So want some standard Rex but unfortunately having trouble finding in my area. Silver Fox are a great choice! This is a great place to learn and share knowledge and also brag on your rabbits...we especially love baby bunny pics🥰

    Black eyed whites

REW are from albino genetics and is albino is recessive.. BEW are not...it is caused by Vienna gene...your harliquin is obviously neither, but could possibly carry the Vienna gene but breeding BEW to anything except other BEW will not always give blue eyes..BEW x BEW is only way to get 100%...

Yes it's just another way for colors to confuse us..as if the genetics of it wasn't enough they change name between different breeds 😅

    How about cricket farming?

I hear you! I wouldn't be eating any insects and not fond of gathering them for my bearded dragons...lol..the things we do for our fuzzy, scaled, and feathered babies 😅

    How about cricket farming?

I have reptiles and at one time considered raising crickets...some types are not as noisy but all chirp, but my biggest issue was they really stink 😅 I am not sure if you are considering the crickets for your animals or yourself, but I've found that dubia roaches are quieter and less...

And yes looks like 2 will be harlequin marked...their mother has harlequin color in her pedigree...the sire was tort so possible the one is harlequinized tort looks to be shaded on head, ears and hocks...I am test breeding her to try to narrow down her color genetics. She is an Opal...
