    New Set Up!

Nice!! I also like the clean look of the black, I almost painted my indoor hutch black but seeing as it will be spending the majority of time in the dark closet, something so dark just wouldn't be the greatest idea. "Where are the rabbits?" .. "Dunno, can't see them." Welcome back! Or...

Little Pips - Injured, possibly very badly, possibly not.

Some cute pictures to help soften the less than great news? So I weighed them both today and Pips is still at 12.2oz He's been floating in the 12.something range for the last few days and I'm starting to think that 13oz reading I saw may have been off due to initial calibration. :( Pips was...

Processed rabbit, what is this on the liver?

They need it in their feed, Homer, I commonly will feed them grit. Grit is mixture of small pebbles or crushed stones that rabbits eat in order to help them digest their food. They pass the food into the gizzard where it is ground up. Duh. -- Thu May 18, 2017 10:08 am -- What was...

Processed rabbit, what is this on the liver?

Dang... that's one mighty large pearl! Two in one week? I suppose the "oyster rabbit" isn't as rare as we thought!

I did it... I advertised to sell my meat muts...

Thanks a lot Chad! But no, I'm not looking for more meat mutts, in fact I'm keeping an extra doe from the bottle-fed bunnies that I really shouldn't. I wanted to have two meat mutts (buck & doe) and four standard rex (buck & 3 does) which I can cross with my meat mutt or keep pure and eat the...

Little Pips - Injured, possibly very badly, possibly not.

Thanks guys! And no Maggie, that's Thor, he'd probably end up cuddling with the rabbits if I let him  This is the perpetrator.. How could something so adorable be so eager to chew adorable things? Perhaps she's trying to reduce the competition... :hmm:

Little Pips - Injured, possibly very badly, possibly not.

Check out Pip's Palace- *ahem* I meant, "the indoor quarantine hutch." 8-) The blue turned out WAY darker and more rich than I had thought it would be, I thought it'd be a dustier, earthy blue but oh well. It matches well with the rough tread on the roof and inside ramp. I did a deep...

Processed rabbit, what is this on the liver?

Yeah, none of my google image searched turned up anything helpful either. The dogs got some of the waste (liver and a lot of the fat discarded) and we're eating the rabbit tonight, sloppy joe bbq tacos. Bahahaha! Mystery solved! I really should have tried to cut it open or something, I...

Kits opening eyes at 7 days?!

We normally get eyes opening at day 9-11, but Della Rose was peaking at me at day 7! By day 10 they all had their eyes open. In my case it certainly had nothing to do with how well momma was feeding them :( Sorry kits.. But I wouldn't worry about it, I just assumed my kits aged a little longer...

    Ooops, she did it again...

Aug! You're right, I didn't even think about the fact that this forum is worldwide and just assumed she lived in the states. #Ignorant. My bad

Processed rabbit, what is this on the liver?

Apparently when it's common knowledge in the family that you have rabbits, people give you the rabbits they no longer want. Hey, free food! :D I just processed a rabbit and it had this hard white ball on it's liver, the rest of the liver looked fine. VERY fatty rabbit on the inside, wow I...

I did it... I advertised to sell my meat muts...

Good luck! I saw this post and went, "Selling out of her meat rabbits? Maybe I can grab a few. Where is she located? Ah, 1063 miles away in Canada. Wait a second, I don't need any more meat mutts!" Rabbitosis... it may be hitting.

    Ooops, she did it again...

From what I've read domestic and wild rabbits cannot create live offspring since they are two different species, unless you're asking about a domestic buck who went wild due to carelessness from a previous owner? Such a gorgeous litter with such variety! I cannot wait until I get a nestbox...

    This is for you Nymphadora

I just saw this quote in Nyctra's thread and didn't want to throw my sktechwork onto her post about hers so I thought I would create my own. I never ended up finishing it, and I had plans for putting a magnificent set of antlers on Thor's head too but instead I just ... didn't, lol. I love the...

    HUGE decision to make...

Whenever my husband faces a career change and is chewing with what direction to go, I always ask him which would better meet his end goal (working for himself) and which one would he ENJOY more. Money is important, but I'm very willing to tighten the belt if it meant he was doing something he...

    3y/o great pyrenese LGD

I would think that factor would be determined by the individual dog, and not so much by the breed (or possible breeds) in the livestock guardian dog. The only way to find out is to give him a shot. You may have better luck asking a forum specifically for great Pyrenees or livestock guardian...

    3y/o great pyrenese LGD

That's so very true Shazza, I'm shocked some of the claims I've seen about animals simply because someone doesn't know what these breeds look like. My dog's previous owner called her a straight up pure wolf... she's less than a 5th wolf and mostly Siberian husky, Malamute, and German Shepherd...

    Newborn kits!!!

Yes, I would go ahead and cover them completely, if they get too warm they will crawl to the top. (Basically I wouldn't worry about trying to KEEP them covered, just he initial covering should be fine and they'll do the rest) Yes, the dark ones will have a dark coat and the light ones will have...

    3y/o great pyrenese LGD

Something about his head looks off, he doesn't look pure Great Pyrenees to me. There's no doubt that he has a good bit of GP but that would be one of the questions I would ask about and see what they say. If they come clean about him being mixed with something else then I'd continue to look into...

    Newborn kits!!!

A new litter, how exciting! They won't suffocate and will often burrow down as deep as possible under the fur for warmth. I've pulled the fur away to peak at them before and they start digging in the nest, "Where'd my blankets go!?"
