    The woes of rabbit searching

Northeast Arkansas area but due to husband being a truck driver we could pick up a rabbit just about anywhere in the south from TX to PA.

    Shaking does

20 Celsius equals to 68 Fahrenheit, that shouldn't be that hot to cause distress. Bounce Back 4 Oz Single Serve Pouches That is what I used last time.

How soon do you (Personally) handle baby rabbits?

I handle mine from birth, at first just enough to make sure they are all being fed and then when they are about 2 weeks old and coming out of the box I hold them and handle them more. My first litter I have, my favorite is my blue buck, Moxie. He has been handled a bit more than the white ones...

    Shaking does

Are you sure herbicide or something wasn't accidentally sprayed on the area where you picked the dandelions? Have they ever had dandelions or grass before? I'm not sure how hot 20 celsius is but when it's hot here my rabbits barely pick at their food. Are they drinking plenty of water? What I do...

English Lop or just a mix? Meet Benjamin :)

Thank you for confirming. I've never had an English Lop, only a couple Hollands and a Mini. I think he will be a sweetheart once he settles in some more.

    The woes of rabbit searching

I have contacted several breeders from the national breed clubs, plus I have checked ARBA's breeder directory. It seems more people are getting out of breeding Flemish than are breeding them. I am going to try to contact people who purchased rabbits from me before and see if they still have Rex.

English Lop or just a mix? Meet Benjamin :)

This is my birthday bunny that my husband bought from Orschelns. I've only had him nearly a week and wasn't sure he was going to make it because he stopped eating and drinking, looked bloated, then got nasty diarrhea. I put him on timothy hay and gave him gas drops and now he's back to normal. I...

    The woes of rabbit searching

Rabbitsofthecreek, I'm going to have pedigreed, show quality Rex and Flemish. I want New Zealand and New Zealand x Flemish for meat rabbits and hubby got me a lop of some kind for my birthday so he will probably get to breed New Zealands and he might get a lop girlfriend for pretty pets every so...

    The woes of rabbit searching

5 years ago, when I started with rabbits, it was easier to find decent rabbits. Now that we are starting our rabbitry again I am having the hardest time finding quality, pedigreed stock. I insist on pedigreed stock because my goal is to produce the best rabbits I can, not just any ol' rabbits...

Breeding after first litter is weened

I aim for 2 fall-offs, just to be sure as well. And as far as palpating goes, I have NEVER been able to determine pregnancy from that. I can never feel anything lol. Instead, I watch for behavior changes.

Linebreeding vs Genetic Diversity: What’s Your Breeding Program?

My Rex all came from the same breeder and after looking at their pedigrees I found that they are all closely related, which is something I don't like. I prefer them to be unrelated or at least, distantly related. Both bucks I have are from my white doe and she was bred back to her sire. My blue...

Animal For Sale Rex available soon and looking for rabbits

I know a pet transporter that I have used twice now, but I would still be worried about a trip that long and the rabbit getting super stressed. We used them to ship a Great Dane pup to his new home in Maine and we used them to transport a Flemish from Texas. Both times the transporter was...

Animal For Sale Rex available soon and looking for rabbits

I will have a litter of pedigreed Rex ready to leave May 31. There are 5 whites, 1 blue. Looking like all the whites are does and the blue is a buck. Color correct breeding. Second litter will be ready June 14 and are 3 blues. Genders have not been determined on those. I am also looking for a...

    young rabbits and veggies ?

When I got my 4 adult Rex in march, I don't think the breeder had ever given them grass. One doe was already bred when I got her and I started them on grass slowly and gave them "safe" greens like plantain, dandelion, etc. Everybody was fine and when the babies started coming out of the box...

I Need Help Sexing Baby Rabbits

#4 to me looks like a doe. I don't see the small opening, I see more of a slit. I'm not sure about the last one though, hard to tell.

    Timothy Hay

You can probably find a compressed bale of timothy hay at Tractor Supply. I have Orschelns but they only carry alfalfa, but in the next town they have Tractor Supply and according to their website they carry the timothy hay. My rabbits mainly get grass hay that I take from my round bale that I...

Feeders and water - Meat Rabbits

The adult Rex I got in March had been using bowls instead of bottles. The breeder told me they drink more out of a bowl but it didn't take me long to switch them to a bottle. I hate bowls. I will put a heavy weight bowl in with pellets in it when the babies start eating pellets so everyone has a...

    Dumor Wire Cages

All of our cages are inside a barn, so no worry about them getting wet and rusting. The 24x24 are the cages for Rex bucks, maybe a couple grow-outs. The Flemish will be in hutches and everything else will be in 34 or 36" cages. So far my only issue is the 34" ones my does and babies are in is...
