    Is this the Astrex gene?

Some curl or wave in the coats of Rex coated rabbits is not unusual - particularly if they're not pure-bred, and often when they are young. This has largely been bred out of purebred Rex over the last century. True Astrex is uncommon and persists into adulthood. There aren't many photos of true...

    Related Rabbit Breeding?

I'm intrigued... NZ are a US breed. I know they went from the US to the UK just after WW2, so late 1940s/early 50s, but I can't imagine them going in the opposite direction. The breed standards are a lot different to US, and different again in Europe.

    ? Blue Chinchilla ?

If it's the shaded gene rather than chinchilla then you can get odd colours like these. It can sometimes be difficult to differentiate between agouti shaded A_ c(chl)_ and chinchilla a- c(chd).

Help getting to eat pellets again?!

That's good news! You must be so relieved!
  6. M

    What is this?

Probably not! But if you want to breed more of the same, the double-maned one will be the most useful, since it has two copies of the mane gene and will produce manes no matter what it's bred to - plus it will give you more double maned if bred to single- or double-maned.
  7. M

    What is this?

They will while they're developing. Once adult it will be more obvious.
  8. M

    What is this?

It has the mane gene, and it's double-maned. The long wool on the sides takes longer to grow in. If you want to be able to distinguish this one from the others mark it now, as later on you may not be able to tell it from the single maned ones.

    Sr Satin doe done breeding?

Are you able to palpate your rabbits? If so, you could let her live with the buck, and palpate her weekly. You should be able to find out if she's actually getting pregnant and later reabsorbing them, or just not taking at all. If there's nothing then maybe she has become too old - pasteurella...

Help getting to eat pellets again?!

Yes and no, we can get Critical Care here [very expensive], although I usually fall back on soaked pellets since I have those at hand. Fibreplex is given in very small amounts (like Bene-Bac) which is easier to get into a reluctant rabbit and provides a surprising amount of fibre just from that...

Help getting to eat pellets again?!

As already mentioned, my go-to is Fibreplex - which I initially thought was similar to Benebac Plus. Now I see they are different products in that Fibreplex is more of a fibre burst, enough to keep the gut moving, and also provides Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a probiotic that's known to work very...

Help getting to eat pellets again?!

You can give both - it won't hurt. It should prevent her from going into gut stasis from not eating.

Help getting to eat pellets again?!

I would get some Fibreplex [similar to BeneBac Plus which is used in the USA], and give her some of that. It will keep her digestive system ticking over while she's not eating, it really saves lives. Your vet might have it, or you can order from Amazon for about £10, free next day delivery with...

    Juno health update

Is she vaccinated against VHD2? Usually just called VHD among rabbit people here in the UK, which is what it was known as when it first arrived here in the late 1980s/early 1990s [VHD1]. I lost a couple of vaccinated rabbits to suspected VHD2 a few months ago.

what are these "Ticked" rabbits from self and otter parents?

Cat Fancy politics is even worse, yes! It depends on what registration body/country though as they all have their own policies and breed recognition, some even have different breed names. The GCCF in the UK is a bit more sensible than some, and regards all colourpointed Orientals as Siamese...

what are these "Ticked" rabbits from self and otter parents?

It's the only breed standard using the term here! :D I guess we'd call it a light creamy fawn, maybe like a Rich Tea biscuit (or even an American biscuit). Sad;y not as pedigrees have never been an official thing here, purely voluntary, and not recorded. Some of ours have been, in the past...

what are these "Ticked" rabbits from self and otter parents?

Ah.... Pale Grey is not Lilac... there's considerable debate as to what it is though, as none have been seen for decades! But you'll see from the colour standard it's not Lilac. Lilacs do turn up in some Chocolate Dutch lines but they're not showable. As I said above, the last recognised Dutch...
