    Children and Rabbits?

My 10 year old daughter has a rabbit of her own. I have seven. When we got into rabbits, I made it clear my rabbits and their offspring were for meat. Arcticwolflady decided that her rabbit would be bred infrequently for a pet line (which is a shame because she's an awesome mom with big...

    Creeping goopy hay eye??

My last bale of hay was EXTREMELY dusty and my NZR buck Enderman came up with a raging case of goopy eye that lasted until that particular bale ran out, no matter how much shaking it out I did. No sneezes, no mucus out the nose, no matted paws. Hay change, and zwoop, eye issue clears right up...

Any idea on how fast they die?

So far we've killed three rats. In the dusty snow you can see the trail they make going to the next door neighbor's yard to visit the bird feeders and the cat food left out for the strays. I haven't obtained the plaster of paris yet, haven't made any cupcakes with my nice cupcake papers, and one...

First litter - what am I expecting?

If she's sleeping in the nest box, it may be too big. However, if tomorrow is day 29 you could put it back in for her. Sometimes does don't pull fur til the very moments before giving birth.

Proportions of cake mix vs. plaster of paris? (rat control)

Mix with milk??? Icing sugar--that's also know as powdered sugar, confectioner's sugar? One to one ratio--check. I wonder since rats are on the lookout for protein and fats, maybe mix the plaster with butter? Hmm, then they'd turn into hard butter crumbles.... which I don't think would work.

    Rat problem

Our city just distributed big closed cans to the neighborhood and the rat problem has EXPLODED. There's an older fellow across the street who would store tiny shopping bags of garbage on his porch, but now with the mandatory cans, those rats have gone all over the 'hood. We've not had a rat...

help encourage a doe to get in the mood?

I am following this thread, since I have a doe much like yours. Plants her butt. The other day I put all four of my bucks with her concurrently, just to try to get her worn out a little. (I think my NZW did the job, maybe.)

    Doe had premature babies

It has happened before and later the does have gone on to deliver full term kits days later. don't assume she isn't pregnant anymore. It could have been she was stressed or there was something wrong with them and she spontaneously aborted them.

    Processed my first rabbits today

Good job on the dispatch, it's not easy the first few times. I'm glad you found a good alternative for the Ugly Ladies which in the end benefited another. "Keep the best, eat the rest." (I think your husband was having a hard time because I processed 8 five-pounders in 3 hrs.)

Rabbits will mate through wire. Rabbits can reproduce every 30 days, so Please place significant space between your buck and doe. Rats, butchering, and it's not even Wednesday!

    NZR to REW NZW

Yes, sorry, purple was said jokingly, since it's unknown what the NZW carries. Then I googled purple rabbit for the picture--let me tell you there are adult toys that show up when you google that!!
