    New Title: In Indy

I wouldn't mind going, but I'm definitely outclassed in Indy. As it is, I think I'll enter the Ohio State New Zealand RBA show in 2018 with my next generation. The first time I showed at OSNZBRA I placed middle of the road (which was about where I thought I was)--but it was rather like taking...

    Birth defect or injury?

A friend of mine sent these pictures of one of her kits, which is on my FB page. Her message to me was "Do you know what this is? It looks like a belly button on it's spine and it's back half seems a little small." Is it perhaps a type of spina bifida? It apparently was born this way. Ideas...

RabbitTalk Handicrafts Thread. What do YOU make?

I've recently begun crocheting and so far I've made an Ugly Sweater and am working on a blanket. I'm also a genealogist, so I've got one 50 pg printed manuscript w/pictures to my name. I like flower gardens better than vegetable gardens, but both do well. I like to make cookies and pie.

What is your rabbits daily diet?!

Everyone gets a 16% pellet with near daily hay. In non-winter they get all sorts of weeds and greens from the gardens. In addition, my megacolon charlie gets oats, pumpkin, and Bene-Back twice a week to keep him regular and comfortable, no fresh greens for him.

Another question about bunny berries :)

What would they be used for?? If you're just tossing them in the garden or the lawn, moisture either way shouldn't be an issue. If anything firefang (type of mold) may have grown in them, but that is good feed for your dirt and lawn.

what color are these new zealands

Steels have the dark ear interior also. Non steel carriers have the white. Your REW is the steel carrier since NZRs can't carry steel and still be red. If you kept a non steel chestnut doeling and bred her back to a Red, then you'd start getting Reds in the nest again. They're awfully cute, no...

My Doe Lost her kits at 6 days old, what do i do now?

Could you have a rat prowling under your hutch? If she was nursing and then was scared out of the nestbox, and the youngesters didn't huddle together for warmth.... IDK. Chewing on the nesting material--was she getting unlimited food to eat? I know of a couple does who ate their nestbox material...

    dewlap in a male?

My one NZR buck has a very small dew lap and he's not overweight at all. The other bucks I've had didn't have a dewlap--probably something genetic.

Thanks. Ivermectin horse paste for everyone it is.

    'Walking Dandruff'?

My NZR buck has super thick dandruff all along his shoulders and down his spine, deep into his coat. It's almost chunky in appearance. It developed after his junior coat molted and it varies depending on the time of year. The judge who looked at him this weekend called it 'walking danduff'. (She...

Perhaps the age had something to do with it?

    Is 1" x 2" 14-gauge wire okay for cage sides ?

IMO I think cage mfgs need to make 24" depth a standard!! Ever try to fit an adult through a tiny cage door who is trying to fish out a reluctant rabbit 30" away??

Tell Me About Your Genetic Charlie Rabbits Habits

We are rather new at the charlie game and Tino is here for his genes. OMG his fur is like silk, I hope that is passed on! Circustances being what they are, I need him currently, and am looking for more ways to make him comfortable. Charlie farm isn't my goal and, boy, would I love to break into...

Tell Me About Your Genetic Charlie Rabbits Habits

How interesting!!! I didn't know that about the genetic cell spread, SS!! I wonder what it is about different rabbit lines that foster or inhibit the condition. Is it something that the ES or NZs have a tendency towards that is not turned on in the Lop? It would be interesting to have the time...

Help with my does please :) update She kindled!!!! Pics

Those temps are just fine for the rabbits; mine usually hang out on top of their boxes during snowstorms! As long as they can get out of the wind and avoid getting wet, they should be fine. However, when in doubt you can wrap the cages in plastic (cuts the wind) and then layer a blanket over...

Help with my does please :) update She kindled!!!! Pics

Sounds like you're going to need two nest boxes!!!! For the second doe, give her a nest box NOW and leave it with her for 35 days. When in doubt, put a nest box in!! She may be pregnant. Or not. She could deliver tomorrow morning. Or three weeks from now. I'm terrible at palpitating also, so I...

Help with my does please :) update She kindled!!!! Pics

Does will build nests throughout their pregnancies (and sometimes when they're not). For a first time doe I like to destroy nests they build the couple weeks prior to kindling, just to give them practice at building them. I've yet to have a doe miss the nest box at go time when she's had to...
