    Breeding Trouble

If the goal is pregnancy... Have at it, but I have to agree, any one of those could be the sire.

Intruducing new veg to rabbit with sensitive stomach ?

Try using Black Oil Sunflower seed as your weight gainer. Old Fashioned oats from the cardboard roll are usually much more loved than a feed store milled oat. Calf Manna is a great weight gainer, but you have to introduce super slow. Literally a couple pellets only the first few days.

Guessing Color Genotypes - Please help!

If he is truly a black tort (aaB_C_D_ee) then yes, he can't be out of two choc parents. Choc self (aabbC_D_E_) and Choc magpie (A_bbcchdD_ej_). No big "B"s, so as you say, no possible for black.

How hot is too hot for hide breaking?

If you find someone that does minor electrical work, you could put a switch in, to turn the element on and off.... But probably Craigslist for another dryer is easier.

How hot is too hot for hide breaking?

Animal fat melts anywhere from 95 (chicken) to 130 degrees (beef) F. I think you'd be too close to cooking. You could disconnect the heating element.

    Put your thinking caps on.

Morning @Tom in Kingman, As a fellow Arizonan I want to weigh in... Besides the obvious Fish & Game issue I think that colonizing and raising the cottontails would be a whole heck of a lot more work than finding a breeder. We have lots of meat breeders in Arizona and transport can bring in...

    When to rebreed.

I would keep trying her every day until she lifts. What was the reason your mom wanted you to take her out?

    Nest Box Culling

The best way... Any way that it is instant. Culling is a choice of any rabbit breeder and there is no wrong reason to cull. The younger the rabbit to be culled, the better for all involved.

Do you think this is Coccidiosis? And is the meat safe?

@MuddyFarms Thank you! I'm so used to letting our dogs just eat fresh but I now have an elderly dog who is moving towards immune-compromised. I don't want to inadvertently cause her stress or harm. I'll go look into it more for freezing specifics.

Do you think this is Coccidiosis? And is the meat safe?

Freezing!! I would have never thought of it, but thats brilliant! When we have rabbits to process its a dog food source, so I'd hate to endanger them with fresh if I saw something like this. I'll freeze if I ever have a doubt. Brilliant again!!

One of my rabbits is just skin and bones.

    How is your rabbit doing?

    Rabbit Abuser On YouTube

Ya, its a shame and it's too bad it happens. There is ugliness everywhere. I find I feel more fulfilled if I find something I can do locally. Like crocheting a scarf for a marginalized person in need of one, like a homeless individual or an elderly person. Or volunteering at the animal...

guessing the color genetics of my rabbits

Magpie, from my limited understanding is both the ej gene and a chd gene. So you're introducing ej on the E locus, and Chinchilla on the C gene. Magpie A_B_cchd_D_ej_ Black stripes on white (cchd strips yellow pigmentation making orange into white) If you bred Magpie to a Chesnut you would get...

    ISO Tennessee redbacks

Is a Redback a rabbit breed? I have to say I've never heard of one. I did a quick google, and boy, they look just like an American Cottontail. Here's a breeder I found on Facebook: Tennessee Redback Rabbits - NC

    Rabbit Abuser On YouTube

I applaud your efforts, but I think it is important to acknowledge and understand that there is a cultural divide present. Despite feeling very confident that my rabbits are not being mistreated, I use wire floors. In other parts of the world this is not only looked down upon, but outlawed. I...

Do you think this is Coccidiosis? And is the meat safe?

@eco2pia Are the lymphocotes and macrophages remnants of the body fighting the nematode/intruder? And I assume the fibrous tissue was the body walling off the problem into a little capsule (what was shows as white in the photo), correct? @ThunderHill How much did you spend on the necropsy...

    English Angora babies - VIDEO

It sure is, and even better is that she has kept up with them all. This morning, at 5 days, they are all still showing full bellies. I haven't fostered any out or even done rotational feedings. In my opinion its always good to see what the doe is capable of before you intervene. If I need to...

    English Angora babies - VIDEO

One way that has worked for me over the years is to breed in the AM, then, about 8 hours later, breed again, and really, if you want to breed again the next morning, you have the greatest chance of increasing the litter size. This back to back breeding allows the doe to ovulate after copulation...

guessing the color genetics of my rabbits

I am by no means an expert, especially with colors in other breeds because what is orange in one breed is another color in a different even if they're the same genetic coding. @SableSteel may be better able to answer. But I do know that bringing seal and magpie are going to give you a hole...
