Cage bottom idea- good or bad?

I tried these, they worked OK, the rabbits didn't chew the floor [but they always had straw, or willow wood to chew on] - negative aspect = the "good stuff" is expensive. https://www.homedepot.com/b/Lumber-Comp ... 5yc1vZc5mb

Cage bottom idea- good or bad?

once upon a time...... I used wood for floors, [ from oak pallets] In one design [based on old English designs] it was a 3 tier stack of cages, the design came from "keeping poultry and Rabbits on scraps. https://www.amazon.com/Keeping-Poultry- ... 1445512319 I had a solid floor sloped toward...

is there a max size for a nest box?

if the nest is too big, issues with kits getting away from the pile, and not getting back -- cause loss of kits from getting too cold.

    Strange question any advice please?

It is not "unusual" for a male rabbit to ejaculate on the tail, or back of another rabbit. That is often the reason for "failed breedings", when a doe doesn't "lift" for the buck. People new to rabbit breeding see a fall off, but don't notice that the doe didn't "lift" for the buck.

How is covid 19 effecting everything?

CV19 [or whatever] and....my opinion... you should do your own research...and take responsibility for your own health.. because, ...I was not tested for CV19 in March, and I tested negative for the antibodies later on [ same as 95% of the "confirmed cases" do] I also got "it" again 3 months...

odd breeding behavior... what does it mean? (NEW NEWS)

It is just how some does act, hopefully when the hormones and scent has dissipated she will be back to normal... [rabbits are so much like people] :D

How do I get rid of rats before they are a problem?

I always leave rat poison packages out [where pets can't get in them] I also like rat traps with peanut butter as bait.

    Doe scratching at 1-2 weeks

it's OK, just make sure she doesn't start using it as a bathroom.. Some does, and some maternal lines, are prone to nest building early on.. It's not a bad thing.. I suppose, it is a maternal instinct , that is not bread out of them yet... I give them some straw to play with , and let them...

Rabbitry set up ideas welcome! (anyone in a small shed?)

Hotzcatz, --I have my "below floor" [Bass] wire nests, in the center near the front, in front of the door.. For easy access when checking litters.. I think a nest box cover like yours would be great with hinges at the side... I could slide the hinge pins out when the box needs to be removed...

    Wire or wood sides?

I try to stay away from using wood anywhere rabbits can reach it. I use metal roofing for the sides, when I need protection from the wind. as well as for the roof... The open space between floor wire should be 5/8 or 1/2 inch, other spacings are problematic..

    Bedding out of construction paper?

I have used shredded cardboard, [and brown paper products] for nesting material, I had no problems with it. {but I also have been known to give rabbits a cardboard box, to play with and , -they eat a lot of it...] I didn't like shredded office "copy paper".. it didn't soak up very much...

EMERGENCY doe with blood! labor or stuck kit?

Some people give some raspberry leaf and it "reportedly helps". I just let them work it out, and, ..it usually is OK. Not much a human can do, to help them very much. If they begin running a fever [over 104] I inject antibiotics ..

Buck rabbit missing patches of fur

either hair pulling , or mites-- if the doe is pulling his hair you might want to find another home for your buck. If they actually fight, it is a big mess...

Rabbitry set up ideas welcome! (anyone in a small shed?)

make your isles wide enough to comfortably work the cages... and clean... [that was one of my early mistakes.] Make sure the ventilation in the "rabbitry" is good, even a little ammonia buildup, cause respiratory irritation, eventually leading to a"snuffles" outbreak... [learned that the hard...
