    rabbit eating a reduced amount

I have also had good success, with feeding greens. anything with lots of water, and the more fiber the better.. Fresh cornstalks also worked well for me.. In winter when greens were not available, I often fed winter squash.. If she is not used to eating greens,go easy, feed just a little at...

    Nest box cold weather problem?

I think, raising her hide box, and letting her use it to keep warm , would probably help her make a "good disision"..

    Nest box cold weather problem?

changing her hide box situation could be "problematic" If you could elevate the hide box,it might help .. most does perfer to kindle in a "lower" nesting spot, rather than a higher one.... That is why "below the floor" nesting boxes work so well, and have so few problems, with kits being born...

    Anyone using Angoras for meat?

I've crossed Angora does with a NZ buck, and had a good ,fast growing meat rabbit. [They didn't grow as fast , or have as good conformation as a NZ xCali ]

How do you not waste a bunch of hay?

I have always used hay mangers , on outside of the cages so rabbits must pull hay through the 1" x 2" wire..

    raising rabbits in California

I think "how many rabbits are involved", also makes a huge difference when deciding on emergency preporations .. That rabbitry in Ca. had 250 does, any problem, would have been a big problem.

    Californian for fur?

short answer, no I have tanned the pelts "fur on".. mature rabbits have tough enough hide, and "good enough" fur for some projects.. coat liners, comforter ,bedspreads , etc.. But they are no comparison to "fur type" rabbits like Rex, Satin, Silver Fox, [sometimes Angora] , etc....

How long to recover from heat sterility?

I know there is a rabbit under there somewhere..

    Peeing in it's hide

I agree with this post, except ,--I would have said "almost all" rabbits are "clean and tidy". Over the years I have culled quite a few rabbits who "made a constant mess", or peed in the nestbox full of kits.. [but, --I have raised 10's of thousands of rabbits]

    raising rabbits in California

PG& E to cut power to a 466,000 homes I raised rabbits in Northern California, I was concerned about and prepared for "power outages".. I had a backup generator, to make sure my swamp coolers and exhaust fan would not go down, and a big water storage tank...

How long to recover from heat sterility?

breeding stimulates the testicles, it helps get them "back on line"..

thinking about getting 2 fiber angoras--need advice

Most wire cages will be easy to "hang" if your suport wires are attached well to all 4 corners.. I would recomend a very good "windbreak" situation for your shed [if it is open].. and or adding very good ventilation grills [up high] if it is not.. Ventilation is a factor often missed by people...

    Best Litter For Rabbits

I used straw for "deep bedding" in the winter, for the solid bottom cages I had back then, They ate a lot of it with no problems. I know people who have used "flake" pine shavings, from Tractor supply for years.. They said, they had no ill effects from rabbits nibbling on it. I would reccomend...

    Dry cat food for rabbits?

I have fed dry catfood to does that needed to gain weight it helped a lot and they love it. Catfood is low in fiber, as long as she has access to a lot of fiber, she will be fine. When I fed a lot of rabbits with only what I could grow... I often had access to "free" dog and cat food, It helped...

[VERY GRAPHIC] Abnormal kit including Autopsy

I think you are correct, I have never investigated a dead kit to this extent, I havent seen this before..

How long to recover from heat sterility?

Sometimes bucks bounce right back after a couple of breedings to "get them started again", sometimes they do not develop a decent sperm count again..... When I raised rabbits in N. Ca [near Corning] I had a rabbitry, that had sprinklers on the metal roof, swamp coolers on one end, and a big...

My doe keeps shoving her shavings out

If it is a sore hocks issue, a piece of plywood, or a wide board for her to sit on, usually does the trick. ** just make sure her "potty corner" is not covered by the board.. [so she doesn't pee on the board, and then sit in it] a piece of willow, or apple wood in her cage, will satisfy her...
