Apparently I am out of line

I have never had a "meat bunny" buyer do any of the crazy things talked about above... sometimes they want to know "real info" [IE: weaning weights, litter size, info about sire and dam, etc. ] sometimes they don't even ask questions , they want to come look at the rabbits, how they are...

First time kindling, doe bled out

Sorry you have to deal with that.. I have had that happen after kindling a few times..-- no rhyme or reason, old does, and young does.. I guess , like in humans, sometimes they hemorrhage... if there was no blood in the mouth, eyes,or nose -- it was probably a "hemorrhage", not a disease. It is...

    recommend a easy breed

I have at times.. kept NZ or Cali bucks, to breed to my "more hardy" breed, doe lines, to get better "meat type" terminal crosses. Hardy and efficient rabbits, were important for me also.. I feed them from the garden/farm, [root crops, weeds, cornstalks, willow, grass and grass hay]. I had...

    recommend a easy breed

there is as much difference within breeds, as there is between breeds. Find a "breeder" with nice friendly rabbits, and buy your breed stock from them.

After so long, finally have my first rabbits

wonderful, I hope all goes well, and you have a great experience.. It is true that many rabbits are raised, and kept, in deplorable ,or overcrowded conditions,- hope she heals fine with no complications.

    Activity Level

I totally agree... It is amazing to me, the number of people who don't buy even one book, and rely only on "facebook people", to tell them how to do everything ... What a recipe for disaster that is... ------------------------------------------------ I have another "gripe" with Facebook, ... I...

Small Kits or "Faders?" Prevention possible?

In addition to the good advice above, ---sometimes with a doe that doesn't have enough milk, the kits grow slowly, and don't mature as fast, and- the eyes open a little later..

    Hello from Maryland!

As rabbits get older, the slippery floor thing, gets to be more of an issue. Rugs that are easily washable, [and cheap] work well, and if they get chewed on, no big deal...

    Hello from Maryland!

I love Flemish, love their temperament. and have not found them any more troublesome than any other large breed. In my experience, the lines I had,- did not have "soft feet", more GI issues, or make a bigger mess than anyone else.. They do however, need a lot more cage room, than is "normal"...

    Blue Vienna Rabbit

I have raised many breeds of meat rabbits, including a few "Vienna Blue". The ones I had were great... With that said... there is as much difference between rabbits within a breed, as there is between breeds. When I raised for both "meat and fur"[long ago], constant evaluation was important...

How is covid 19 effecting everything?

Here, -lots of people here are still afraid ,and the economy is depressed. I suppose, with the easing of restrictions, and availability of more "real " info, things will return to "normal" fairly soon. I would keep watch for another month, and see how your area is doing, before I would breed...

Apparently I am out of line

I agree, the video thing is unreasonable, and probably dangerous, both to you and your rabbits.

Have you ever had a buck....

that is such a bummer.. sorry about that

Have you ever had a buck....

When I colony raised rabbits, I had one buck that would kill some of the kits... I stopped "colony" style rabbit raising shortly after that, so have never since had bucks in with does, that had kits ..

Moving a pregnant rabbit from pasture to pen

I might add, [to the good advice above] When you pick the rabbit up, be sure you're "supporting" the rabbits weight, with your hand under their butt, [ not, with a hand on their chest or belly...]

    Treating Wood Naturally

Although peeing on the wood won't necessarily ruin it, treating the wood with a"nontoxic" sealant is a good idea. I have no idea if the rabbits will find the combination of vinegar and canola yummy, ...or not... In my experience, rabbits chew wood a lot more when they are short of long stem...

    Keeping both meat and pets?

My pet rabbits,- were older "breed stock" does, that I had become attached to. I kept them on ,after their "productive live" had ended. They would come in from play, in the evening, be caged and fed. I let them back out in the fenced yard, the next morning. I kept them until their health became...
