    What’s wrong with my buck?

Maybe the buck self-identifies as a doe. 😉

    Rabbit Names

Some of these names are awesome! Very creative!

    Anyone use oil drip pans?

I don't really understand the priority of maintenance. It's not like it's optional. Or can one expect to eliminate it. Just find the most efficient method then deal with it. To think that an oil drip pan doesn't hold enough... increase your maintenance schedule.

    Anyone use oil drip pans?

I'd hate to be the guy in the bottom bunk!

Sundance appointed himself as the leader of "his" herd. He gets really upset if someone isn't where they should be. I've switched stalls with the others a few times, just to mess with him. I'll open the gates so he can put everyone back where they should be... according to him. God help us if...

    Anyone use oil drip pans?

Cleaning up after five horses in the same barn every week, what the rabbits contribute is rather trivial. I've never given it much thought, just something that needs to be done.

    Rabbit Names

Generally my animals manage to name themselves. Elsie, our stupid cat, showed up as a seriously injured kitten. I'm not a "cat person" (meaning if I went to the pet store, I'd buy anything else first.) But... the poor thing needed help so we rushed it to the vet. Not having a name, I was calling...

    Rabbit Names

I realize that most here don't raise rabbits as pets but does anyone besides me name them? I bought my first two as pets. Then they took it upon themselves to drastically increase their population without consulting me first. Giving them "the talk" failed, they are like teenagers... with a one...

    Anyone use oil drip pans?

As for "chew toys" I cut several 2"x2"x6" long fir boards to throw in the cages. Depending on the rabbit, they can last from a month to two months before being chewed in half. I was advised early on that they chew anything... & need to. The theory was to distract them from chewing on hutches. So...

    Anyone use oil drip pans?

I've been using them since day 1. I'd advise against a 100% wire cage bottom. First, it isn't necessary and second, I think it would be very uncomfortable. Rabbits try pretty hard to stay clean. They usually choose one spot as their "restroom". I'd put wire in that spot then use a heavily...

    Completely Off Topic

Within shouting distance of my front door is evidence of a large Anasazi village. All sorts of artifacts are uncovered each time it rains. For me, it's fascinating to look across the vast landscape or up at the night sky & see exactly the same views that these people saw a couple thousand years...

    Completely Off Topic

I know this shouldn't be here but I'm too excited over it not to share. Our ranch is in N.E. Arizona between two Indian reservations. One of our neighbors & a very dear friend has been "trying", with the patience of a god, to teach me the Navajo language. So far, it hasn't gone well. 😉 Anyway...

    "Fixing" Rabbits

Sounds like you've been talking to my wife. She said exactly the same things. Maybe... I misunderstood what the vet was saying... but I kinda doubt it. In any case I've got some time as she also said they aren't old enough yet. I'll also inquire why it's referred to as "fixing" them when in...

    Loose ears or soon-to-be-lop ears?

One out of seven of mine had "floppy" ears. As he matures, one is standing now but the other remains somewhat limp. Both hanging was kinda cute. Now he looks ********.

    "Fixing" Rabbits

That's what I would expect too but... my vet has never been wrong. (As far as I know LOL) That's why she makes the big $. It sure would be nice if I could just have a talk with them and pass out tiny condoms.

More air or more shade delimma

We too have coyotes, but with four German Shepherds, several times their size, they stay far away. The only snake(s) I've seen are in one particular spot on the road several miles away. Diamond Back rattle snake(s). Quite large too. The most recent didn't have a rattle but was definitely a...

    "Fixing" Rabbits

I got a quote... and advice from my trusted vet on spaying / neutering my rabbits. The total looks like my zip code! Over $300.00 each for the bucks and $75.00 for the does! I don't understand the drastic difference. There are pros & cons that I wasn't previously aware of. 1. It's a VERY risky...

More air or more shade delimma

Not having a clue what I'm doing or what's best for my rabbits, I provided pretty much everything so they can decide what's best. The hutches are in a temperature controlled barn (mid 70s 24/7). They have access to an indoor pen to run around. Then I extended the pen outside, with a wire mesh on...

    Completely lost on colors

On the topic of colors... is there any correlation between Easter egg color(s) and what color(s) the bunnies will be when they hatch? Asking for a friend.
