    Thank you for this advice Dood :D I have mostly been raising NZs so this is good to know. What can you expect on a ND at a healthy weight when you rub him? I will be weighing him as well to compare.

    That is what I was going to do, so thank you! I am also willing to take them from the moms (just the first group to hatch) so that the hens will keep brooding...works with all our other birds anyways..and that way all the eggs get a chance... either way if I take one hen with the chicks then...

    Just curious, I know my sister was told what amount to feed (rabbit feed pellets from Purina?) to her large "meat" breeds and her smaller lops and mini rexes... but since she has never had this breed and cannot tell me what to give my new ND I thought I would ask here what amount do you feed...

    she is cute for sure hope she can learn to take care of the rat problem for ya. She does come from hunting breeds so maybe she will catch on.. ...and maybe she will not be like our "guard" dogs who decided that once a rabbit is out of its cage it is something to hunt or herd...have not had...

    Congrats on the chicks :) I have 3 silkie hens that decided to start brooding one after another so currently there are the 3 hens on one gigantic nest...and my other silkie hens are laying their eggs in there and walking off...gonna have multiple ages coming out of there this is also my first...
