    Rabbits with ear Mites....

As we are new to this rabbit thing...we have had our first experience with ear Mites...We haven't had the buns that long so I'm pretty sure they came with them, as the housing conditions at the breeders were very crowded and not so clean....All three Does were affected, some worse than others. I...

A dozen common weeds/images need your okay?

Yes, according to the article some counties are requiring removal upon development, We are not in one of them, but it makes no difference to me at this point anyhow, it's not an attractive bush any longer, it's funny at one time they were the quickest three growing things in our yard...when we...

A dozen common weeds/images need your okay?

The brazillion pepper is illegal to sell and propagate, and is an invasive here in Florida, not illegal if it grows as a weed in your yard....We recently bought some gourmet pepper with lil red peppers in it...it was listed as brazilion pepper corns....how crazy is that...Just figured if it is...

A dozen common weeds/images need your okay?

I have been searching the internet and did find an article of a study of using wedelia as a fiber food for rabbits, so it seems that one is safe...and to be honest....that is awesome...cause it is taking over my garden. I also have found that spanish needle is safe too, for them and us....cooked...

A dozen common weeds/images need your okay?

Here are a 10 common weeds in my yard that I could forage for the rabbits...some I can identify, some I can't. I have read that the Mulberry and wax myrtle are safe...but the list says white mulberry, and the wax myrtle is a natural food here for wild rabbits...so can I assume it's safe??? <br...

    UH...Is my Doe already pregnant????

Thank you MaggieJ...that was exactly what I needed to know......I have palpitated the bellies of both Does and feel nothing...but....????? It's my first ride :) She doesn't seem interested in her nest at all today? I had planned on nesting boxes/tunnels that will actually come out the backside...

Would this be considered a colony?

It is 1/2" x 1/2" wire...the poop does fall through if they go out outside so far...I would still line the inside with lots of straw so it was easy on the feet, but the urine wouldn't be soaking into the wood floor that way...Are you saying it's best to keep the wooden floor inside?

Would this be considered a colony?

I really had wanted to go with a colony design for the rabbits, but we were unable to make it as large as we had wanted...I guess I have a few questions for those in the know in Colony raising... Is mine big enough to qualify as a colony? It is up off the ground because it can get soggy...

She had them separate males and females...but was double checking...so not sure "how good" or long they were separated for :/ Nesing box is in with the nest move within it. She nosed around....hopefully that will be good....not really the way I wanted to start my adventure, I like to be well...

    UH...Is my Doe already pregnant????

Thanks so far for the advise...I've been reading and yes I agree, I must have misunderstood what they were saying...maybe 3 mos...cause he's a good size bunny, you can "tell" he's younger, but he is well adapted to life on his own....I will get the nesting box out there straight...

Thanks...it was alot of fun doing it! Most of our "outdoors" projects are just me and the DH, but this time everyone got involved......The coop had been sitting there waiting for about 6 mos. Ideas for an above ground colony set up?

Access to the ground is doable, 3 seasons...during the summer....it literally could overspill the wetland behind us and leave us with a muddy mess for a week, standing water a few days...Not worth the risk....But I did also think of the donut Idea myself...but rather that the cage itself be a...

Ideas for an above ground colony set up?

My husband and I have acquired an old chicken coop  ....it is approx.4'x4'x4' off the ground 3' It has an access hole for outside, but the area under the Live oaks (shady for our hot summers)is an area that can get wet at certain times of the year, possibly a few days at a time too so...

(I now have Kits & Questions!) My Colony Set-Up

I love the set up...but I'm having a hard time understanding the peg board...does the poo fall through? and doesn't it get destroyed with the urine? It is so very creative...we are planning ours now, would love to steal some aspects...also how do you access the tunnels? more pics...maybe?
