A good friend's mother gave me three lovely young Standard Rex does for my colony, and I absolutely LOVE them! They are the sweetest, cuddliest teddy bears I've ever met. They have personalities like puppies. Names, names, names...herbs and flowers are the theme.

Love the otter.
Lilybeth comes to mind. Bluebell, Veronica is another name for Speedwell, a blue flower.

Dahlia, meaning "Novelty".

Fern, meaning "Sincerity".

Come to the Rex-side, Cait!

Congrats on the pretty girls! The Lone Ranger is one lucky buck! :D

Aren't they wonderful? The first time I felt the fur of a Rex, I HAD to have some! Now I have a buck and two does--can't wait to start breeding them!

I just felt Rex fur for the first time! It wasn't what I expected... it was like the finest cotton velvet. I expected super-soft polyester velvet feel, but that's not what it was.

Amazing.

And speaking of two week old kits.... :)

I want those.

Cait, that is the only Lilac out of a litter of 9...all the rest are chocolate and all of the previous litter of 9 were chocolate. The parents are chocolate but must carry Lilac...

Needless to say, she is a keeper! Trying to decide what to name her, here are the options:

1) Lilah
2) Violet
3) Lavender
4) Periwinkle
5) Primrose

The feisty, more bold black otter will be Sassafras, I've decided. The other otter will be Fern, and the blue otter will be...something. What's beautiful with little to no personality? Angelina Jolie?

Oh! I like Periwinkle!

__________ Thu Apr 19, 2012 4:25 pm __________

You are a riot, Cait. I wish you lived closer... I would gladly give you a fine Rex buck for all the times you have made me laugh! :D

Who, me? Interfere with the progression of Galloping Rabbitosis? Surely you jest...

Cait, what about lonelyfarmgirl in Wisconsin? She's the one that OneAcreFarm and I got our Rexes from. If she doesn't have any available, she should at least be able to point you in the right direction.

There's six or seven good Rex breeders here in Michigan. Finding a buck won't be a problem, I may have actually found one and the owner would like a Checkered. Might arrange a trade.

Nice! OneAcreFarm and I had to import ours from out of state!
