Gardeners are almost as crazy as rabbit raisers.
HEY! I resemble that remark, (on both counts).

Just got my first order for bunny berries! :p 5 bags!

I am headed into Bakersfield today anyway, so will meet the guy in a parking lot of one of the stores I'll be heading to.

Thanks Mary Ann and Duman!

I think that he will definitely be back for more. Turns out it wasn't a "funny fern" grower after all, but rather a nice young couple with a little girl (3?) that started a raised bed vegetable garden about three years ago, incorporating lots of compost in the beds originally.

The garden didn't do very well this year, so they think they have used up all of the nutrients in the soil. Kind of a "duh" moment  for those of us that amend every season (multiple times!), but I give them credit for the effort. :)

Even though the bunny berries wouldn't go to waste here, I am pretty pleased to have made $25 bucks on bunny byproducts! It cost me nothing but the effort of bagging the stuff up... which was actually less effort than loading it into the wheel barrow and spreading it around myself. :p

And there is plenty more being "manufactured" every day, anyway. :D

What kind of bags do you use?

So, I currently have plastic bins underneath my cages to collect the manure/hay/urine and anything else that falls ;)
Because it gets pretty wet with the urine do I need to let it sit somewhere to dry or cool down before I add it to plants, or is it still ok? I have heard you can put rabbit poo straight on plants, but does that go for the urine too?
Yes, both the rabbit manure and urine can go around the plants. Try not to get it on the leaves of your veggies, but otherwise it should be okay.
That's where all of our rabbit manure goes, and our garden does very well because of it.

If adding directly to plants I would let it dry and sit for a while. Experiment, see what happens. If you are putting it into potted plants I would say NO.

I've never had any problem shoveling everything off the barn floor and putting it directly around the plants in the yard and garden. When I put it in potted plants, it's usually when I'm planting, in which case I mix it with the new soil and plunk the start right in. It's garden gold! ;)

If you're using the urine separately, make a tea by mixing water and rabbit urine about 5:1. You can use it immediately, and I've never had any troubles with spraying it on the leaves.

Here's a good resource on using the urine alone as fertilizer and also a pest repellent, which is apparently a common practice in Africa and other countries:

I once filled an entire planter with fresh dry rabbit poo from under the rabbits....there were chickens able to access it but it was over 90% rabbit. The pee mostly drained away into the ground, it was dusty dry, not exposed to weather.

Anyway, I put it in this big planter, probably a full cubic yard of pure rabbit manure, watered it down well, and dropped some tomato seedlings in. It was late May, early June, after the cold weather was done.

Um. A week later it was still over 100F. The 'maters didn't make it.

Just to say, yes, it is usually pretty innocuous. But there are limits!
