Hello, I have a rare breed of rabbit, the Sussex.
They come in cream and gold, but aren't just solid rabbits.
I have been looking onto colour genetics, and I think they are chocolate and lilac tort's? But I dont know if there is anything else affecting the colour.
They are a solid gold or cream body, with lilac or chocolate ears and head. They have cream tummies, but have coloured patches on the inside of their hind legs? What do you think? and what would you call them?

Pretty bunnies! They look like chocolate and lilac torts to me. :D
The 2 spots on the bellies are a normal part of the tort pattern.

I thought they looked kinda like Lilacs!!!
(It's apparent in the face, head shape, and build. Especially in those last two pics.)

I looked up the Sussex breed, and saw that Lilac was one of the breeds used in their creation.
The color genetics of the Lilac breed are pretty simple and compatible with the chocolate and lilac tort colors.
If you need an outcross, why not start there?

Thanks everyone :)
The chap in the last picture is a new addition last week, he very nearly got called Winston! We settled for Zebedee instead :p
They were a choc californian, lilac rex cross.
My problem with them atm. is snipey heads and faces. I need to find something with a brick head, and good fur. Thier fur is too short, and continuously in molt. I have had my adult doe since april, she has not been showable for more than a week in that time due to molt. I have been waiting for my babies to stop molting- they are 6mths and constantly molting, is this normal?
The problem is Clifornians are very rare in England now, I have found some solid lilac silver fox rex crosses that caught my eye... not sure what that would do to my fur though?
