    Percentage Angora wool?

Hi, all. I want to spin some of my southdown wool combined with my English Angora fiber. I've read that about twenty percent angora is good. Is that the standard recommendation? And would that be twenty percent by weight or volume, or does it not make any difference? I'm excited to finally be...

I mean that I think that you'll do big things in the rabbit world. Hey, when you're famous, I can say, "I knew him when . . ." Kathy

    How sad!

There was a roof collapse at a rabbit show venue in Europe this weekend: http://www.thelocal.se/25110/20100220/ How very sad!

    Brat, or Bred?

If she IS bred, can I continue to groom her on the regular schedule, or is the clipping (which I did inadequately,) meant to make grooming while bred unnecessary, in addition to safeguarding the kits from entanglement?

    Brat, or Bred?

Thank you for your thoughts, Ladysown. It certainly couldn't hurt to put in a nestbox. I'll add one and some straw tomorrow. If it starts to look serious, I've also saved bits from grooming the rabbits, in case she doesn't pull any fur. I can't imagine seeing anything moving in her though - I...

    Brat, or Bred?

Thanks, Maggie and Brody. I'll leave her in peace. I'll maybe give her some straw to play house with, though, because I'd rather she ate the hay :)

    Brat, or Bred?

Maggie, my only experience with a false pregnancy is with a dog - milk leaking, a fixation on a squeak toy that she perceived to be her baby, etc. Is there anything that I need to do? Should I stop taking apart her "nest?" I was going to wait until the first of the month to try to breed the does...

    Brat, or Bred?

Kona, my blue tort English Angora, spent today removing all of her hay from where I tuck it into her second door and carrying it around her cage. Whenever I took out the strewn hay and replaced it with fresh, she'd repeat the process. I attempted to breed her on February 3rd, but she never...

    I want some KFC!!!

No, that's pretty much it, Ann - you soak the kernels and then either deep fry them (for shame!!!) or season and bake. They're sort of like the kernels that only semi-pop when you make popcorn. I could use a salty/crunchy treat right now. It was a strange day: with the weather so awful, I've...

    I want some KFC!!!

The only thing I've ever craved at KFC is the cole slaw, but I've been burned a few times when it was "off," so it's easier to resist. Those zucchini chips sound good. Evidently, cravings for salty, crunchy things indicate tension. Really? I figure that if you're not experiencing any stress...

    It's so NICE out today...

Okay, Miss M: that's just mean :) I've just switched with someone at the library tonight so that I'm not driving home at 1:30am in near-blizzard conditions. I got all the critters settled for the night by 3pm today so that I don't have to fight the wind for control of the barn gates. I am...

    Chocolate Magpie English Angora Doe

Those are some beautiful babies, Jackie! How old are they? Were you able to tell that she was a Chocolate Magpie when she was born? I'm afraid that if I get anything other than solids, I won't know how to categorize them. Kathy

Way to go, Jackie! And, good for you, too, for not getting discouraged and giving up. Be sure to post pictures when you get a chance? Kathy

New Rabbit Forum on Homesteading Today!

It must have been very trying for a real professional to deal with dilettantes. If I can get a successful litter, I'm thinking of theme names: RiffRaff, Hoi Polloi, Plebe, and Prole.
