Who here allows your bunny to sit on your lap?

There's quite a bit of difference between different rabbits. Some would be perfectly fine going out and about. I used to have a buck called "City Slicker", a blue English angora, who had a fan club at the knitting group. He'd go hang out with them every week and have a grand time being petted...

Animal Wanted Looking for a fiber bunny

if there's a rabbit show in your area, that might connect you to some breeders. There's also transport folks and you can fly them on planes, too, if you an get the breeder to drop them off at the airlines. I've heard possibly can be shipped via greyhound bus as well? Not sure about their...

    Cage height question

The hutches here are double high and they start about 18" off the ground. The lower level is about 24" tall and the upper level is about 30" high. Rabbits seem to enjoy more headroom if they can get it. I'll probably not build double high hutches again, though, because of the cleaning...

    @#$&@$!! RATS!!! Rat proofing project.

Here the only rat proof hutches are the nesting hutches. The big hutches aren't specifically rat proofed. We do have a Cat Goddess next door who feeds a feral herd of cats so there's a lot less rats around now and haven't seen a mongoose in ages. Right before a litter is due, rat baits...

Studies on mortality in Easter Pets (bunnies/chicks)

Personally, I've not looked to see the actual mortality rate of impulse pets, I just assume it will be high. But then again, I don't have any rabbits for sale until three days AFTER Easter. If they still want them then, they can buy them. But, I try not to sell to the pet market in the first...

Is there a market for rabbits?

IMHO, if you want to breed for pets, a white NZ may not be the best choice. The smaller and more decorative breeds are usually the ones chosen for pets. Some folks find the albino NZ 'spooky' because of the red eyes. Also, lowering the price doesn't always sell the rabbits. At a really low...

Info on Moringa (drumstick tree) regarding rabbits from www.feedipedia.org

Around here Moringa is more of a people food than a livestock feed, but I guess we can share with the buns.

What fabric does Angora fluff not stick to?

The wet fur kinda simulates 'microfiber' type cloths. I made a wash cloth out of bunny yarn and it has a weird feel to it when using it. The fine fibers sorta grab/glide on the skin. There was only one washcloth made, it was sorta an odd result although with experimental knitting one can't...

    Angora photo request

FWIW, I don't think angoras come in either martin or otter? Harlequin isn't a recognized color, either, at least in English angoras.

    Feeding Grape vines

May as well grow grapevines for jam, jelly & wine as well as for bunny food? Pick a variety you like to eat as well as feed to buns?

    Overdue Doe

Rabbits seem to like to pee and poop in the same location. Move the box away from that location and she will probably quit using it as a litter box. Also, switching it for a new box will keep it from smelling like 'the place' as well.

    Rabbit breeds for meat

Welcome to Rabbit Talk! One of the popular meat breeds in the United States is the New Zealand, although there's several others as well. With the name "New Zealand", one would expect it would also be popular there, too, but I don't know if it is. What climate conditions do you have and are...

What fabric does Angora fluff not stick to?

Pretty much the same here, too. There's a wire toothed dog slicker brush which cleans the bunny fluff off after a grooming session. There is a grooming apron which generally stays pretty fluffy although that gets brushed off occasionally.

Rabbit wheezing, sneezing, nasal discharge and GI issues!

Hmm, was hoping the oats would help. Have you looked up her symptoms in Merck's online veterinary manual? Rabbits - Merck Veterinary Manual They know loads about rabbits, especially since they've been laboratory animals since before forever.

Sussex cream and gold babies are here!

Pretty rabbits! Never heard of the breed, but we're on an island and have limited breeds available. There's also a pedigree program, Kintracks, which will tell you how inbred any two particular animals are. When dealing with a limited gene pool, that's a very useful function. It's an...
