They are 6 weeks now and just growing up. I will be taking the boys out befor I leave for Main. I am thinking about keeping one or two does from this litter. I like the darker one. She did have 7 kits and I think all look good for there age nice in size. what is a good age to start butchering them? I am leaveing in 2 weeks so I am not doing it till I get back. They will be about 12 weeks then.

They are soooooo cute! Butchering them when you get back will be fine. Just weigh them and see if they are a weight you want for butchering.

Looking delicious! I butcher between 8-12 weeks. A 5 lb rabbit doesn't look big if you are used to looking at 12 lb parents, but it is plenty big to work with--don't let them get much over 5 lbs. Don't trust your eyes, use a scale--put the rabbit in a canvas shopping bag or pillow case and use a cheap fish weighing scale if you don't have anything else.
