Sigh. That's what happens when they stop teaching grammar in the schools. A good example from one's parents can go a long way to mitigating the damage this has done, but with each generation, it becomes more difficult for parents to provide this because many of them simply do not have the skills themselves. Advertising with its "cute" spellings and texting have added to the damage.

I am not a grammar Nazi, but I do think that clear, correct language is essential for good communication. Saying "you know what I mean" is simply not good enough.
