The kits will be 12 days old in the morning. Their eyes are not quite open yet, but they will NOT stay in the nest box!! Isn't it too early? I'm worried a couple of the smaller ones won't be able to get back in. I put a piece of wood in front of the box so its like a step, but I'm not sure how good that will work. Should I just turn it on its side?

THis litter has been wild since birth! ACK!

Never dealt with nutty kits so early. Turning the nest may work, but the kits may wander alone and die of exposure...
I'd be checking the cage often for escapees.

I found an 8 day old Dwarf kit out of the box tonight. His eyes must have just opened this afternoon because they were closed this morning! What's with these crazy kits? LOL

I find that the kits born in warmer weather develop a bit faster than the ones born during the winter months ... but by 4 weeks, there's no telling between them, developmentally, so it's all good.
